  1. And that's no recommendation You managed to advertise me as 'Yorkshire's finest' once
  2. Interesting that no DJ's so far have commented That's probably because the DJs don't write the flyers. I've seen '100 Club' underneath my name on several occasions, and yes I've DJ'ed there on a fairly regular basis over the last ten years (well at least once a year over that sort of period), but as a guest, not a resident. Peronally I'm proud to have DJ'ed there and to be associated with the club in that way. Like Jo, I could put a huge list of events after my name, with very few exceptions I've been fortunate enough to get spots at almost every major niter or weekender over the last few years, so to be honest, if people haven't heard my name by now, they haven't been going out much But as I'm not a promoter, I have very little control over what is written on flyers, and it's not something I ever did when I did promote events. So really, it's not something DJs, who are not promoters, have any involvement in.

  9. Thought the vinyl album was Australian or South African, the CD was definitely Ace, although it came out on the Stax logo.
  10. I'll put this into plain English for you. THERE ARE NONE LEFT If you mean the Middleton niter that was held at Crewe, yes it was played, twice actually.
  11. It's actually the second run of red labels that has sold out. the black labels went about two months ago.
  12. And I've just had an email from Jukka at Timmion Records to say it's completely sold out.
  13. The B side is actually listed as James Robbins, and I think it's a slightly different recording.
  14. So that's what Modern Soul sounds like
  15. Here's the full details Don Gardner discography
  16. Albrighton, in it's day, was in my opinion, the top Soul night / allnighter in the country for hearing new sounds. There were loads of things that were played there that went on to become massive all over the country. The allnighter playlist is what was played at the niter, but the Soul nights were even better sometimes. The company was also brilliant. I still go to venues now in the Midlands and hear people refer to 'loads of the old Albrighton crowd in tonight'. Shame it's gone, but I believe that venues have a 'lifespan', and once the end of that lifespan is reached it's time to move on and not try to resurrect it.
  17. This might help you then: Albrighton's last allnighter, complete play list Hadn't realised it was nearly four years ago until I ha a look at the playlist again myself. Hi Lin

  19. Got to admit Joe, not that I'm doubting what was said to your good wife (I daren't she knows what I look like and would hit me ) but I do find what he said a little strange. I've DJ'd at most of the Soul clubs in London, and nobody has ever shouted abuse at me, and I'm not aware of it happening to anyone else in the London area. I do know that John Weston had abuse shouted at him once, but he recognised my voice, so that doesn't count

  23. Yep Couldn't be arsed where a CD is from. I just used it as an example of how low down the list UK Demos come in my opinion.
