  1. Oi!! It's the way forward
  2. I don't recall it being released on Grapevine 2000 Steve. Are you sure? I hate to doubt a man of your expertise lol.
  3. Looking forward to it Steve. the last one was a cracker.
  4. Agreed Steve. Through All Times is a great LP.
  5. No, sorry but is it very good? Much better than "WYCBH"?
  6. The unreleased David Ruffin LP is on there, that had a very limited CD run. In fact, there's plenty of good stuff on it.
  7. He's also the ex husband of Mariah Carey, which beats being in The Poets in my book.
  8. Hello Pete, I seem to recall someone saying it has a while ago but can't recall the details. Is this the one you picked up at a bargain price a few years ago?
  9. I think soulful house has been part of the modern scene to some degree for a long time now. I think there was a particularly strong period about 5-8 years ago when loads of good new releases were coming out such as Masters At Work, Donna Allen, Big Moses, Dennis Ferrer, Arnold Jarvis, Keith Thompson, Blue Six, etc. I think that was kind of a peak period for me and some of the more recent stuff hasn't been so good and certainly not in the same quantity.
  10. Just get the CD. It also contains "Marvin Said" too which is nice, and a picture of George outside a London pub.
  11. Michael Jeffries also had a stint too.
  12. Hamilton, Joe Frank & Dennison - Now That I've Got You is a great song.
  13. Loads. "Run To Me" and "The Next I Fall In Love are other two great songs by him (Qualls, btw).
  14. Such as the Terry Ronald
  15. Quite right. A bit ironic really - the fact that such a wonderful unissued song is only legitimately available on a greatest hits CD sold in supermarkets. Yet some people prefer an inferior bootleg because it's on vinyl and it's harder to find.
  16. It's a boot, I think. The only official release is on CD and can be found in such specialist stores as Tesco, Asda, etc. Wonderful song.
  17. If You Don't Want To Be In My Life is one of my faves.
  18. Here's some of my current faves out of the stuff I've bought recently: Invincible - Chris Jasper I Been Thinking About You - Sammie Relford My Brother, My Brother - Billy Valentine The Search - April Hill I Can't Explain It - Ann Nesby Don't Take It Personal - Wahoo (Ft Paul Randolph) Old School Party - Stanley James Get On The Floor - Jahah No More Tears - April Hill Whenever You're Around - Jill Scott Get To Know You - Ledisi One For All Time - Chaka Khan Take Me - Gina Green Love Somebody Else - Masha¡ All Because Of You (Neo Soul Mix) - Carolyn Harding
  19. Excellent record Paul. Not sure I'd call £144 a measly sum though lol. You must have this record collecting bug bad.
  20. 1996 it was Martyn. It was Chris's 40th birthday allnighter and what a cracker it was. I had two of them but swopped one for a CD on the night
  21. Didn't Andy Rix have this too? I seem to recall him playing it at The Dome and Scenesville.
  22. They used to be very busy - at least the ones I went to were - Bretby, Winsford, King's Hall Stoke. The music policy was about 85% new/recent releases and they rocked. (Bretby had a separate crossover room sometimes). I think the problem is nowdays that modern covers so many different genres and the rooms attached to northern soul events tend to lean more on the older stuff. This makes the room not significantly different from the main room, which is embracing more 70s these days. If promotors are going to have a modern room, they should be more bold and adventerous. They might even find that they attract different folk. There's loads of them in the south east, who have no northern soul history, who would love to go to that kind of do and enjoy the northern too.
  23. Otis is the greatest singer of all time imo. I think the best way to make someone understand, who wants to know what soul music is, is to play them an Otis record. Otis Blue is one of the greatest soul LPs ever.
  24. Here's 10 that I like at the moment: 1. Full Flava - Bad Habit 2. Sammie Relford - Hey Love 3. Chris Jasper - Invincible 4. April Hill - The Search 5. Down To The Bone - Smile To Shine 6. Lungau Big Band & tony Momrelle - With Your Luv 7. Soccorro - Beautiful Man 8. Ty Causey - Heartbreak Paradise 9. Donnie - If I were You 10. Dexter Wansel -The Sweetest Pain (classic!!)
