  1. I am starting to have second thoughts about him. It's been terrible recently, but still think we'll be ok and will get points against the teams around us. I can't think who would be a better replacement.
  2. RIP Chuck. Agree he was one of the all time greats. Such a distinctive voice. There aren't that many people out there who have heard of Chuck Jackson, but there's quite a few who know this song:
  3. Delete. Too much Abbots Reserve early in the evening
  4. Leicester less so than Palace, unfortunately.
  5. I know what you mean Steve but still have faith in Pat. It's a far cry from the terrible, boring football under Roy and I'd hate to go back to that under desperation. I'm sure we'll be fine.
  6. Arsenal had their chances but made mistakes and City were too clinical and too good. Surely they're in the driving seat now.
  7. So many fantastic, beautiful songs. RIP Burt.
  8. This season couldn't be going any worse. Gareth is top and I'm bottom. I didn't get Haaland in soon enough as I had my doubts about him. I thought Nunez would be a better bet. That's just one of my many bad decisions!

  10. I saw I Wanna Dance With Somebody last night and was very pleasantly surprised. It was more of tribute to Whitney Houston and focussed more on the music rather than the drugs, etc. The songs were great, especially the early stuff and the covers before she got a record deal. The background soundtrack includes some great songs from Stevie, Chaka and Luther. I saw that Rodney Jerkins was the man responsible in the opening credits so I knew it'd be good. It also featured a brief cameo of an actress playing Anita Baker. Superb performance from Stanley Tucci too as Clive Davis.
  11. I love this Ronnie Dyson song. One of his best
  12. Saw her last time she was here in 2019. Great performer.
  13. Saw her last time she was here in 2019. Great performer.
  14. I don't consider myself a collector. I've got quite a lot of records but only buy what I really like at a low price. A lot of those have gone up but I'm happy keeping them. I'm quite happy buying CDs too.
  15. Great stuff. I love these types of films and there's quite a few on his list I haven't seen. The recent Bee Gees documentary on Sky is also worth checking out.
  16. I don't do these very often, but I'd thought I'd get in quick before you have to start paying Mixcloud for an upload. A mix of the tunes I used to hear in modern rooms in the late 90s and early 2000s. All were massive floor fillers and still sound fantastic today, especially when played out loud! It includes the likes of Maxwell, Ann Nesby, Lucy Pearl, Chante Moore, Nuyorican Soul, Rahsaan Patterson and Maysa Leak. https://www.mixcloud.com/Dixieeagle/modern-soul-floor-fillers-from-90s00s-mix/

  17. This is one of the best for me
  18. I went through a period of buying tapes when I bought my first car in the last 80s. Sometimes they contained a bonus track which wasn't on the LP. They've been filed away for over 30 years but I had heard recently that there's starting to be a fresh demand for them.
  19. Has anyone seen Elvis yet? I'm really looking forward to see Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker in it.
  20. As of this morning, I'm in 4th place and you're in 13th Gareth which gave me a smile, until I saw you're saving your players for today and tomorrow.
  21. Should be interesting. To be shown on BBC4 26 Aug Aretha Franklin Prom will explore 'the core of who she was' - BBC News https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-62565695
  22. Deadline is early due to Friday ko. Just picked my team in a rush, so a lower mid table place for me again this year.
  23. Thank you and well done Mike. Made a lot of good friends on site in the late 90s / early 2000s who I used to see a a lot at the London events and beyond. Quite a few classic threads and reviews over the years and it's great to see it still going strong. If you want a question answered, this is the place to come!
  24. It used be popular at mod / scooterist events in the early 80s along with "Love Really Hurts Without You". I never understood how it crept in.
  25. RIP Michael. This picture was taken in Feb 2014 at the Royal Festival Hall when he guested for the Norman Connors (on drums) gig.
