Well I do agree that the NS scene has to evolve or it will fade out completely in the next 10 years or so. It's incredible that it's lasted so long. I'm in my 40s and I don't really care about it so much these days. I go to very few events even though I still love the music.

Was the Wigan Casino Monsters a Goldmine CD? This has been one of my faves since I heard Guy play it on the Janice Long Radio 1 show around 1986.

I agree. It's the artsist that has the talent, not the DJ. Consequently, they deserve recognition.

Otis Redding should be in the top 10. I don't really have too much argument with the top 8 although not neccessarily in that order. Some strange ones in there too (Mario Biondi, WTF?) and some obvious ommissions, some of whom have already been mentioned plus Willie Hutch springs to mind.

Nice one Russell. are you still local? I went with Jo to one of the Margate do's at the Scout Hut but it got closed down by the police even before it begun. I also recall an allnighter at Charing, near Ashford around 1985.

Graham does still run Rocollect records in Strood. I bought a couple of Kent CDs from him recently. I think Bogarts was before my time - early 80s (pre 83). I never went but gather there waere many punch ups there or outside there. My first do was the King Charles Hotel mod nights on Thursdays in 1983. At first I thought it was fantastic because I'd never heard a lot of the songs before. After a while it got my nerves hearing the same songs in the same order every week. Keith & Jo also did Sunday nights in Churchills, Chatham for a while around 1985-6. They were good nights.

Yes that's right Steve. That music had been been very popular before then but wasn't getting played in the modern room at the weekender.

I prefer Darrell as I heard him first. It was one of the first proper records I bought.
