  1. How many times has this happened before? You would've thought that this would be a well drilled process by now. Why don't the singers just say they're visiting for holiday.
  2. He brought his grand daughter on last year too Ali, dancing to "Tighten Up". She'll be an accomplished performer before too long
  3. He's still got it. He was great when I saw him in London last year

Well I do agree that the NS scene has to evolve or it will fade out completely in the next 10 years or so. It's incredible that it's lasted so long. I'm in my 40s and I don't really care about it so much these days. I go to very few events even though I still love the music.
  5. Was the Wigan Casino Monsters a Goldmine CD? This has been one of my faves since I heard Guy play it on the Janice Long Radio 1 show around 1986.
  6. Not in a soul pack but I was given this as a bonus 45 when I bought a set of stuff in 1985 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIxlRfzl5Yo
  7. That's probably a more diplomatic way of putting it. Perhaps I shuold've typed that the artists deserve more recognition.
  8. I agree. It's the artsist that has the talent, not the DJ. Consequently, they deserve recognition.
  9. It was also featured in the Football League show on BBC1 on saturday night.
  10. This is a great set. Don't know some of them and there's even a bit of Lou Rawls in there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EanuiNxcVHk
  11. Here's something else forthcoming to get people going https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00IX1S7TY/ref=pe_281341_46396671_pe_epc__1p_4_ti
  12. Hence, my point. Not much time at all to fit in a god set of tunes. You must've had to fade a few out in your middle set Mark?
  13. I don't disagree with your post but righteous? Really?!!??
  14. Good stuff Mark but what's with the 30 minutes slots?
  15. RIP Frankie. Far too young. This is one of my favourites of his. "What's Going On" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ya6l7lmFTlc
  16. The two extra mixes aren't very good Alan. Not worth the wait or extra dosh imo.
  17. I'm surprised nobody has put up what I think is track of the year so far: Paul Johson - Better Than This
  18. Chuck Jackson definmately deserves to be in it. Ronald Isley is in it #12
  19. No Leon Ware either. And out of the new breed, Jaheim.
  20. Otis Redding should be in the top 10. I don't really have too much argument with the top 8 although not neccessarily in that order. Some strange ones in there too (Mario Biondi, WTF?) and some obvious ommissions, some of whom have already been mentioned plus Willie Hutch springs to mind.
  21. Nice one Russell. are you still local? I went with Jo to one of the Margate do's at the Scout Hut but it got closed down by the police even before it begun. I also recall an allnighter at Charing, near Ashford around 1985.
  22. Graham does still run Rocollect records in Strood. I bought a couple of Kent CDs from him recently. I think Bogarts was before my time - early 80s (pre 83). I never went but gather there waere many punch ups there or outside there. My first do was the King Charles Hotel mod nights on Thursdays in 1983. At first I thought it was fantastic because I'd never heard a lot of the songs before. After a while it got my nerves hearing the same songs in the same order every week. Keith & Jo also did Sunday nights in Churchills, Chatham for a while around 1985-6. They were good nights.
  23. I saw this and enjoyed it a lot. I didn't expect to see interviews with Mitty Collier, Sugar Pie Desanto and Chuck Barksdale
  24. Yes that's right Steve. That music had been been very popular before then but wasn't getting played in the modern room at the weekender.
  25. I prefer Darrell as I heard him first. It was one of the first proper records I bought.
