Both. It's on the Mahogany Soul CD from 2001. Very easy to find.
  2. Jo was certainly a big influence on my musical tastes as a young lad. I used to frequent her record shop regularly and she introduced me to many great sounds. An excellent DJ too, with a great mike technique and bags of personality.

The Metros was also bootted on Joker
  4. I've been waiting for over two weeks for mine. Is that usual?

It's been the case for a long time Mark. There's still quite a lot of old duffers in modern rooms too though
  7. It's more revered as a crossover sound rather than northern. As Pete said, late 90s

  9. On second thoughts, it was the Norman Connors gig on the South Bank in March. Cracking warm up do with the DJ's playing stuff from Mr Connors, Roy Ayers, Webster Lewis, etc. Great way to spend a Sunday

  12. Hero's really? Unless you're going to pick someone like Stevie Wonder, it's difficult to consider anyone in the UK a hero for playing records or putting on events.
  13. The O'Jays live at the Indig02
  14. I'd never heard Stanky until this thread. It reminds me of that awful Sister James record that was massive about 10 years ago. Pleased I'm not missing much by not going out these days
  15. It was even sneered at on the modern scene. Bloody awful record
  16. Bunny Sigler's "Can You Dig It" also sounds a lot like "Ain't That Peculiar" to me
  17. Here's something well know by what I think is a very underrated artist on the soul scene. I think he's great! Rick James - Give It To Me Baby https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dNIQVYGXbM
  18. It doesn't sound like 80's to me. More like early 70's imo

RIP Jimmy. I'll always remember "Everybody Needs Love" as the last record played at These Old Shoes every month.

I don't know how you can say that almost every 70s record released by Grapevine is crap. 1 star for Leo's Sunship. You must be joking!
  24. The remix of Quiet Storm was also really well done on that CD.
