  3. Hero's really? Unless you're going to pick someone like Stevie Wonder, it's difficult to consider anyone in the UK a hero for playing records or putting on events.
  4. The O'Jays live at the Indig02
  5. I'd never heard Stanky until this thread. It reminds me of that awful Sister James record that was massive about 10 years ago. Pleased I'm not missing much by not going out these days
  6. It was even sneered at on the modern scene. Bloody awful record
  7. Bunny Sigler's "Can You Dig It" also sounds a lot like "Ain't That Peculiar" to me
  8. Here's something well know by what I think is a very underrated artist on the soul scene. I think he's great! Rick James - Give It To Me Baby https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dNIQVYGXbM
  9. It doesn't sound like 80's to me. More like early 70's imo
  10. Hit & Run is also less than two minutes of magic
  11. Another nail in the coffin of credibility lol
  12. RIP Jimmy. I'll always remember "Everybody Needs Love" as the last record played at These Old Shoes every month.
  13. Well I'd giver it foive
  14. I don't know how you can say that almost every 70s record released by Grapevine is crap. 1 star for Leo's Sunship. You must be joking!
  15. The remix of Quiet Storm was also really well done on that CD.
  16. I suppose.
  17. That's not a posh place really. I've been there for a firm's xmas bash. Very messy and not at all posh.
  18. Nice clip of folk dancing to Chapter 8's "It's My Turn" at 37 mins followed by Phyllis Hyman
  19. Thanks for that. I didn't know Ricky Tomlinson was a ventriloquist
  20. I was there that night. It was my first ever allnighter north of London. The modern room was great too and there was even a crossover room. I didn’t know what it was then and I was further confused when someone played “Tune Up” lol. I remember going on another occasion the following July and the allnighter couldn’t open until after midnight as there was a wedding reception going on. It was a lovely evening though so remember sitting on the grass outside chatting to Dave Thorley and a few others until we could get in.
  21. I think anyone who is tempted to pay a ridiculous price for a relatively recent record, should seriously consider buying the CD instead and get the "False Faces" track too thrown in.
  22. Brilliant record. RIP
  23. Yeah, that's right. there were multiple packs of 100 for £40 on Ebay. I bought a set. Some excellent stuff and some cheese in there too (Blame It On The Boogie on CBS lol). To answer the OP's question, yes there would be interest because they're great records but they're not rarities by any stretch of the imagination.
  24. RIP Bill. I didn't know he was white. So what's the A side like? Is it totally different?
  25. Actually Dan country music has a lot more in common with soul music than you probably think. There was a great thread about it on here a while ago.
