  1. I'd put Mad Men higher as I thought it was consistently great from beginning to end and there's no many you could say that about. If they've got Twilight Zone in there, I'd add Inside No.9 or even, Tales of the Unexpected (at least the Roald Dahl written episodes)
  2. Do you mean stuff like this? The Only Way Is Up - 80s Northern Soul Mix by Dixieeagle | Mixcloud
  3. That's not actually true though. The bit about saving his career.
  4. The Dixie Eagle mixes are pretty good
  5. A whopping 3rd place for me. The first time ever. I had a great run in the last two months, a bit like Palace. Gareth winning it again is getting a bit boring
  6. Spoiler
  7. Agreed. It's a massive disappointment. I've just one more episode to go but am struggling through it. On the other hand, Scoop on Netflix, is pretty good about Price Andrew's car crash interview with Newsnight.
  8. The Gentlemen on Netflix is brilliant. An off shoot of the Guy Ritchie film
  9. I read that Sam Mendes is going to make four films about the Beatles - one on each member. Sounds brilliant to me since I love the Beatles and Sam does a great job of everything.
  10. Thanks for that Mark. Really enjoyable. It's still in my top 10 list and I never tire of it. I've read the book too and it was excellent. It goes into much more detail about the science behind the behaviours of sharks.
  11. Yes, it was brilliant. I got quite sentimental watching it. Al Jarreau singing Day O, as a tribute to Harry Belafonte, and everyone joining in was hilarious.
  12. RIP the great Marlena Shaw. Always been a big fan but never got to see her live despite her many visits here. I still managed to get an autograph though. Pete Tong put this on a tape in the 80s and it’s my favourite.
  13. Bobby's LP version is 6.30 mins long.
  14. RIP. I had no idea he was 65 years old. I used to love this
  15. I would've voted for Yvonne Baker. I'm surprised she didn't make the cut.
  16. Closest I can think of Alicia Myers - I Want To Thank You
  17. Jalen Ngonda is album of the year, along with October London (but not Northern or on a record). This is record of the year though
  18. Napoleon is out 22 Nov. Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Joaquin Phoenix. Should be very good.
  19. Tapes? Even in the mid 90s I used to plug a CD Walkman into the cigarette lighter. I did go through a phase in the late 80s when I first started driving buying tapes for the car. I still them all now - some really good ones from Bobby Womack, Perri, Stephanie Mills, Jean carne, etc.
  20. Seems an odd choice of songs to be put on a 45. Witchoo would've been much better. I'm just listening to his current album "Wait Til I Get Over" which I bought blind. Not particularly impressed on first listen.
  21. Very sorry to hear this. I first met Paul at These Old Shoes in the late 90s and used to see him regularly at the London northern (and other) soul dos. Such a lovely bloke - we used to talk about music and football (Charlton & Bromley). He played great sets as a DJ too. He seemed to be making the most of things recently, travelling to a lot of places for breaks. RIP.
  22. Thanks for doing that. I didn't catch all of them during the show. Someone has great musical dates involved in that team. There was also another Pastor TL Barrett track played in the closing credits of episode 4
  23. And this too at the end of episode 2, and it worked perfectly
  24. Here's othe stars for BB King and Anita Baker. Got another photo too Chaka Khan's somewhere
