  1. I like this. Tail end of 2017 - new style music
  2. Can you imagine going home after work and quoting the first line to your wife on Valentines day?
  3. A fantastic record. One that does not need editing down or tampering with at all.
  4. Now that would be fantastic to hear
  5. The third one is a recent release that has nicked the riff from Cliff Nobles. Can't remember who it's by.
  6. The Snake on a Lambrini advert
  7. Now for something a lot more recent. Tune!
  8. I like this and it's recently been reissued
  9. RIP Denise. Lots of great songs over the years but this is my favourite
  10. My favourite previously unreleased record of the year - Split Decision Band
  11. I'm going. I've wanted to see him for years and hope that when I finally do that he'll play a reasonable amount of his 70s/80s solo stuff.
  12. The best do I’ve been to are the Saturday all day sessions at The Soul Bag in London. I had no idea what to expect as I didn’t know any of the DJs but I went along as I was at a rare loose end on their first do in March and it was brilliant. The May event with The New Jersey Connection playing in a small pub was excellent as was the July do. The Saturday Soul Affair in Piccadilly is also well worth a visit. They’re doing a combined event on 29 Dec which should be good.
  13. This is my favourite Soul Junction release of the year
  14. I never bother when playing 45s. Just press play and fade it over 2 or 3 seconds later.
  15. I'm not sure about Syleena Johnson's new album although I haven't heard it in full yet. I'm kinda disappointed she's gone in that direction as I though her first three albums were fantastic. Mind you, that was a long time ago now. I haven't heard the Martha High, so will look out for that. The posthumous Sharon Jones is superb. I think it's quite a bad year for contemporary soul and have bought less new music than I have done for many a year. I have more enjoyed the old stuff that has come out for the first time like the Split Decision Band LP and the Super Disco Edits releases.
  16. Hi Mark, that question was directed at Scotters actually. I know you like the contemporary stuff too as I've been an avid listener of the Soul Sermon for years. It's great to have it back
  17. Do you only like new music that sounds old? I like that stuff too but also enjoy, new, new music . Recent albums from Ledisi, Will Downing and Kim Tibbs have been pretty good.
  18. It's got to be a 12". The 7" is not worth the bother
  19. When my son was about 3-4 years old he used to like: TC & The Bricklayers - Up and Down the Hill Al Green - I Can't Stop The Persuaders - It's a Thin Line....... Now he probably thinks they're rubbish and is much more into guitar bands like Catfish & The Bottlemen
  20. Another double pointer. Anita Baker & Babyface
  21. Isn't this LP only from the Eliminators? Quality
  22. Sunshine Anderson? Well this track was good
  23. There doesn't seem to be an reliable album review for new music anymore. I wouldn't rely on Soul Tracks as they recommend everything.
  24. Sam Smith is a pop singer. I have no idea where the soul connection came from. Plenty of good soul music around today if you know where to look. It's not as a good as it used to be, I grant you. Check out the new Crack of Dawn stuff.
