  1. RIP Mr Ayers. So many great songs. Prolific live performer in the UK. This is him at the Forum, Kentish Town in 2016 He's also been a big influence on Louie Vega and other House acts in more recent times -+
  2. As seen in 2016 at the Fold Festival in Fulham, backed by Chic.
  3. RIP Angie. So many great tracks and albums.
  4. RIP Roberta. Thank you for the lovely music. I'm sat here now and reminding myself of her great songs.
  5. Just managed to wangle Paramount + included with Sky. Landman is very good.
  6. RIP Rick. Thank you for all the great music. I always liked the drumming on this one.
  7. Quite a few. It depends what you want on modern soul. A lot don't get advertised here. Some examples below. Cotswold Park Soul weekender – Fri 21st – Sun 23rd February 2025 Margate Soul Festival 2024 | Margate Soul Weekender Blackpool International Soul Festival 8 – Goldsoul
  8. Very sad. RIP Jim. I heard him play many good sets in modern rooms over the years.
  9. Some big teams could go out soon, which makes it interesting and I'm sure is not what UEFA intended. I still don't understand how they make the 8 fixtures fair for everyone.
  10. What platform is this on?
  11. Damaris also did a good version of it. The Shapeshifters sampled it to terrible effect about 20 years ago and got to no.1. Dave & Maurissa version has just come out
  12. I enjoyed Black Doves a lot. Also, Archie, about Cary Grant was very good. I had no idea about his rough childhood. As was the BBC three part documentary about Elizabeth Taylor recently.
  13. I haven't and it hasn't made it difficult for me.
  14. I'm 4 episodes in and really enjoying it much more than I thought I would. I'm fascinated by Colin Farrell's performance.
  15. CD is very good. It's nice to have all these great songs in one package
  16. I finally got around to watching Oppenheimer last week and it is fantastic. Very long, very well acted and needs a lot of concentration but there's no other film maker like Christopher Nolan out there at the moment and his films will be all time classics. I learnt an awful lot too. I'd watch it again.
  17. What's up Gareth? are you panicking because you're 5th after two weeks?
  18. Very bad first squad pick for me with players being loaned out elsewhere, injured or dropped. Haaland is just about keeping me in it. Too early for a wildcard and I don't think I can anyway this season.
  19. Great thread. Totally agree with Anita Baker's "Rapture" - a gamechanger for me. I've always been more of an LP kind of guy. Other faves of mine are: Leon Ware - Musical Massage Marvin Gaye - Come Get To This Stevie Wonder - Innervisions Bobby Womack - The Poet Luther Vandross - The Night I Fell In Love Quincy Jones - The Dude Michael Jackson - Off The Wall Jill Scott - Beautifully Human Trina Broussard - Same Girl Adriana Evans - Adriana Evans
  20. I've just recently see this too and it's by far the best series I've seen for years. Gary Oldman steals the show. I'm a big fane of the spy genre and this is brings it down to earth a bit. Very funny in parts too. John Le Carre has written about these smaller offices where the cast-offs get to do the grunt work.
  21. The Main Ingredient version is my fave.
  22. It was very good. Interesting to see Matthew Broderick to play the bad guy so well for a change.
  23. I was going through some Tower of Power tracks today and came across this gem which also featured on the Lay back and Chill CD
  24. The Soul Steppin CD is particularly good
  25. That sounds like it's ripped off The Temptations late 60s with Dennis Edwards. There's an increasing amount of it about recently and they must using somebody elses material as the source without crediting them. It wouldn't surprise me if someone makes a carver out of one and says it's a previously undiscovered rarity.
