Chris sold the remainder of his collection to Soul Bowl on the long journey between Walsall and Kings Lynn, Chris was accosted outside the sleepy hamlet of Wylde Green by a notorious local highwayman by the the name of "Ye Olde Ted Massey "who relieved Chris of his Larry Clinton plus one other! Come on Ted fess up ? Dave
  4. The tax ruling used to be that you could sell items from a personel collection up to the value of £8,000 per annun before being liable for Capitol Gains Tax. This may or may not have changed ?
  5. Yea Ian And people have been asking you to take records off half way through ever since!!!!

  8. Hi Nick It would appear that we (Soul Junction) have somehow ruined your Sunday Evening. Your comments on our marketing and promotional methods somehow imply that we some kind of poor man's mafia. All of the deejay's and presenters who play and support our products do so under there own steam we just send them the goods then it's up to them if they spin them or not with no retribution. We at Soul Junction spend a lot of time and effort not to mention money supporting our artists(who in a lot of cases are our friends and hero's) and will continue to do our very best for them. Of course you are entitled to express your own opinion but before doing so spare a thought for the artists many of whom ( not just from Soul Junction but many other labels) read the comments on this forum. If you have an issues that you would like to discuss with me please either send me a PM, email or give me a call my details are on the website. Regards Dave Welding

(ala Mr Benn)
  16. More so in the UK Steve But we sold a hell of a lot in mainland Europe which was really pleasing as this was our first foray into the contempary gospel field. Anyway getting back on topic although kinda merging two topics Butch's inclusion of Mike's "I Want Some Satisfaction" in his excellent 70's and crossover set thread just high light's the quality of Mike's recordings. "I Want Some Satisfaction" was a Ernest Kelley composition, which Ernest recorded firstly on Willie Collins followed by serveral other artists in the hope of turning it into a standard i.e Cloe Martin Dee Edwards and a instrumental version by Johnny Griffiths on Triple B. Johhny Griffiths being a former member of the Funk Brothers at Motown with Jack Ashford. Then later a business partner of Ernest Kelley who worked surreptitously with Jack at Triple B due to Ernest still being employed by Motown and Gordy's dislike of any of his employees moonlighting etc , any way that's enough of that i'm sure Ady Croasdell will shead more light on this subject on one of his forthcoming projects Dave
  17. The album was never released with a cover, this was a very commom cost cutting practice at the time. Dave
  18. "You Make Me Feel The Way You Do" was also recorded by Barrett Strong and was featured on his 1982 Album entitled "Love Is You" which appeared on Norton Stern's Coup label. A 45 of " You Make Me Feel The Way You Do b/w Love Is You" was also released on Coup. Stern was a buddy of Ernest Kelley Mike Jemison's producer, manager and life long friend.Hence Mike also recording "You Make Me Feel The Way You Do" I always thought that "Spread Love was a very underated track which probably suffered because of only being available as a album track. I latter included it on the Ernest Kelley Soul Heroes (GVCD 3035) which was released on Grapevine in 2007. Mike Jemison now a ordained Baptiste minister is still a regular performer on the gospel circuit, often sharing the bill with Areatha Franklin. We also released two contempary gospel sides by Mike in 2010 "Hold On He's Coming b/w Call On Me" Soul Junction SJ507. Dave
  19. Hi Bob I too have a issue copy which I found lying around in a pile of records at Soul Bowl circa 15 years ago, but i have never seen another copy since. I did play the b-side out a few times covered up but can't remember what as (another senior moment). I think I mentioned that a issue copy exsisted in a previous thread regarding rarer Buddah releases Dave
  20. Hi Andy As you rightly say this release has caused quite a stir amongst real soul fans. Contempary gospel soul records are becoming a very popular phenomenon presently. Many thanks for the label scans too
  21. While talking with John (Anderson) tonight, we briefly discussed the above subject. He reckon's that he only ever had circa 50 copies and not all at the same time, although he did sell some used one's for a quid each in the early days (I'm sure Dickie Watt will confirm this fact being one of the lucky recipient's at the time). Althought John had quantity of many of Jack's other release's on Prodigal Triple B, Sepia, Spectrum,Ashford, She etc he has never meet Jack or Eddie (albeit briefly at Prestatyn). His dealings were with Lorriane. Even though John's dislike of Northern is well documented he has always rated Al Gardner's Sweet Baby very highly and thinks the backing track is great. Dave

There's pleny more stuff to come from the former Fee records dynasty over the next few months and beyond. Dave
  24. The Sounds Of Imani (with Imani being the Swahili word for faith) was created in 1996 by the versatile husband and wife team of Gerald and Carol Ervin. Carol a keyboard player, vocalist and songwriter in her own right, her background has always been within the gospel genre. Tap to view this Soul Source News/Article in full
