  1. Well said Chalky, unfortunately high prices achieved are not just restricted to the northern soul fratrnity, I'm afraid to say there's been certain unscrupulous characters knocking out counterfeits of doo-wop, low rider, sweet and funk indemander's for many years now. Dave
  2. The song was registered at one time with BMI (I've checked) and also with it's inclusion in the Soul Harmony Singles Book one would assume that one of either Beckman, Hunt or Kline (or all three of them) had a copy in their possession at one time. Dave
  3. Not so strange a name when you consider that Harry Moon's "Woman's Man" also came out as Harry Moon & The Fide on the 'Sin' label along with a further release Harry & Vee Vee "Without Your Love" (The Harry being Mr Moon himself). With the logo of the 'Sin label being an image of the devil. Dave
  4. On the Orange one the The Girl I Need side is a miscredited song title with the recording being a song entitled "Can't Pull Myself" Away. Dave
  5. I do hope he hasn't got underfloor heating ! Dave
  6. That's exactly what I thought when I paid Soul Bowl three quid for one ! Even if it was only a lowly demo copy closely followed by two quid for Hurt By Love and a fiver for his Wheelsville 45 I've always liked the sound of his voice Dave
  7. Carl Jones (Wolves) has a red issue too. Dave
  8. Here you chaps, straight from the horses mouth (metaphorically speaking) Into the 1970’s Richard and Arthur formed a new group that included their cousin John Haserarig, two sisters Veronica and Joann Skillern and their cousin Shirley Dial. This new ensemble was called ‘Brother Sisters and Cousins. In 1973 Richard the groups lead singer took a demo tape of their material to the Nashboro studios in Nashville. A deal was signed and the Brother Sisters and Cousins initial release ‘Sinner (Have You Been There)/Smoke Stream appeared on Nashboro’s, subsidiary label Nasco (029) with ‘Sinner (Have You Been There)’ becoming a local hit in and around the Nashville area. A reputed dispute with a group of a similar name led to the Brothers, Sisters and Cousins then changing their name to ‘Bits And Pieces’. As Bits And Pieces they recorded a follow up release ‘Did I Scare You/Smoke Stream’ (Nasco 031) in late 1973. In 1974 Nasco again released the popular ‘Sinner (Have You Been There)’ this time featuring ‘Keep On Running Away’ (Nasco 033) as the flipside. Richard was responsible for writing all of the groups Nasco sides, all of which were heavily imported into the UK, as new releases to find great appreciation with both the Northern and Modern Soul scene’s of the early 70’s and beyond with ‘Keep On Running Away’ being a current popular reactivation today. Following the eventual demise of the Nashboro group in the mid 70’s, Bits and Pieces all went their separate ways If some of the members on this site spent more time perusing the articles section, than they do debating which has-been played what piece of pop shite at Wigan then they might be a tad more knowledgeable. This quote is not directed at anyone person but is being used as a generalization. The information is out there just go and find it !!!!! Dave
  9. Well done Guys for exposing yet another despicable scam. The members of soul source and beyond are so lucky to have such diligent observers/collectors, keeping an eye out for such deceptive counterfeits. Dave
  10. True Ivor Back in those halcyon days of the modern scene several indemanders got done as well as Tony T i.e. Willie Darrington "Never Should Have Walked Away" Rav Clenda Mcleod No Stranger To Love" HGEI Bobby Sheen "Something New To Do" Warner Bros (White Demo's Only) Which reputedly all came from the same source. Plus later dubious presses such as Melvin Moore on Sky Hero etc Latter-day buyers really do need to start doing their homework before venturing out into the big bad world of e-bay Dave
  11. So Lars is the perpetrator of this grand deception, a man of international mystery or possibly a svengali who resides in the UK ? Dave
  12. Quite a pleasant b-side too , "Don't Set Me Up (For The Kill)" Dave
  13. Apparently he's opening the show with The Goon's Classic "I'm Walking Backwards For Christmas, Across The Irish Sea" Dave
  14. Perhaps the purchaser will come on the thread and enlighten us to who the seller was ? Dave
  15. I wonder were they would have licensed that from with both Ulysses Gains and Willie Tee dead. Wasn't H.B. Barnum and David Axelrod behind the production of the "I'm Only A Man2 album on Capitol ? Dave
  16. Begs the question why, as it's not as if it's actually currently indemand ? Mind you the amount of stuff that been bootlegged or re-bootlegged recently I suppose even these unscrupulous bastards are struggling what to do next. Dave
  17. Just out of interest has any more information surfaced on the validity of this 45 release ? Dave
  18. Hi Derek It wasn't a British Armed Forces Station that John and Mick hit, it was a Rediffusion TV Station Dave
  19. Likewise John What a pile of pants, the inept BBC researchers ride again they should have called ye old Garry Cape up and bought a set of Grapevine's America's Most Wanted albums if they needed some background on Malaco. Mind you, perhaps their expense accounts didn't run to it ! Dave
  20. Hi Ian Sorry to hear that I hope you get fixed up real soon. ATB Dave
  21. So Ian, how does the sales at your own company stack up against the comments made in the article you've posted? Dave
  22. It's been a firm favourite of the Solar and starpoint radio Jocks for a while now. The guys got a great voice, as you say a hellva difference from his days dressed as a cop mincing around singing Y.M.C.A ! Dave
  23. That a boy, "sock it to'em" Mick Dave
  24. Great write-up Chalky which seems to have encouraged quite a few Soul Source members to hit the 'Buy Direct' button on the Soul Junction website overnight, with people not only buying the Elbowed -Out cd but also copies of their previously released 45's. A fantastic response to a album which is receiving a lot of positive plaudits, such as a recent review by former Blues & Soul scribe Bill Buckley who likened the sound of Elbowed-Out to a no lesser outfit than the 'Tower Of Power'. he quotes The sound of Elbowed-Out as being "Eminently danceable, soulful, melodic and gritty with a irresistable hint of funk. The album has already been heavily featured in the playlists of Soul Source members and regular radio presenters, Cater, Gaurnori, Halsall, Hipkiss, Marshall, Merry, O'Donnell, Pragnell and Thorley's shows etc (Guy's who know a thing or too about good music, checkout their shows in the Soul Media, Radio section.) Dave P.S Anyone who is still deliberating over whether to buy a copy of Dee Dee Warwick's "You Tore My Wall Down (SJ533) then please don't delay as were close to selling out.
