Hi Dave
Isn't he the Matt along with Robert (Robert Thomas of My Salvation fame)) who also recorded on Jar-Val, Uni, Soft & Le Cam too.
I seem to remember hearing they were related, cousins I think ?
Dave
From memory there's a family connection between former Motown artist Sherri Taylor with one of the Martiniques either being a brother or a brother -in-law .
Dave
Well spotted Dean, that'll teach me to post before my first coffee of the day !
Just to throw a curved ball into the mix, where does the Jimmy Cobb "Nobody Else Can Hear" that you used to play fit into the equation ?
Dave
Hi Ivor
Another worthy contender to your list of 60's soul outing that have been featured in crossover sets would have to be:
Robert Parker's "I Caught You In A Lie" Nola
Dave
A contender for the top 100 crossover sounds ever would surely be:
The Chimes "The Beginning Of My Life" Down To Earth
Although not as sought after as it more illustious stable mate The Kings Of Soul, this little cheapy in value (but high in musical quality) has continued to be a perinnial favourite.

Gorgeous George "You Can't Stop A Woman b/w Get Up Off It & It's Not A Hurting Thing" £15.00 SOLD
Just found a handful of this long deleted and it would appear now forgotten Grapevine 2000 release.
A great previously unissued crossover gem with George cleverly using the Esso Petrol slogan about putting "A Tiger In Your Tank" in the songs lyric's. With the added bonus of both sides of his recently auctioned funk and deep soul Peachtree 45 on the flip. (3 -45's in one). The b-side was cut at 33rpm.
Postage £2.50 (1st/recorded)
Regards
Dave
The A side is a great previously unissued crossover gem "You Can't Stop A Woman" with George using the Esso Petrol Slogan of the day by including the line about putting " A Tiger In Your Tank" in the songs lyric's. With the added bonus ofthe two above songs n the flip.
Dave
Due to the current euphoria regarding the effervescent Gorgeous George Odell how about this previously un-issued forgotten crossover gem.
Gorgeous George "You Can't Stop A Woman" Grapevine 159 the only way you can get it on vinyl and a record that still has plenty legs in it.
Dave
Hey Chalky
Your easy bit is a hard bit to techno phobe like me !
Now Pete really needs a special mention, a staunch 60's maniac who selflessly had to wade through hour after hour of modern soul to transfer the tape. Mind you someone mentioned that they'd seen him walking through Wombourne bare chested apart from a red leather waistcoat and a gold medallion while whistling the theme music from 'Shaft' so there's hope that he's finally crossing over to the dark side !
Dave
Hi Gotsoul
I wouldn't say that it got ignored as came out on a album and got a release in the UK on Tamla Motown.
Great record by the way, written by Marvin Smith out of the Artistic's
