The only thing I can say being a member since March 2004 and in all that time not once have heard any one say bad things about this site. So Mike lets look back at the facts!! remember all the soul do's that's been mentioned, sale that's been done, the gossip we have all talked about good and bad, pic's and flyers that's been shown, all the problems that's been ironed out, support that we have given each other, even to those we have never met because when the shit hits the fan's on soul source, we as a group throw it back without striking a blow better than any court room don't you think? You and the soul source site is bigger than any venue that I have ever been too from way back in the early 60's yes I'm an boring old "fart" but never have I seen a response like you have created with this site So Mike Keep-on-Keepin-on good on ya dendog

It all started in 1960s Hitsville, USA - the birthplace of Motown. When I was a pup back when Gods dog (dendog) was alive the sound's was played on Radio Luxembourg on our radio you could listen all over the world and it had glass things in the back. Dusty Springfield was making herself heard with soul she then came back to us from the states what did she do for Soul?? Northern Soul in the early 60s was unforgettable big names like Kim Weston, Martha Reaves, and so on. Lets talk Dungeon, Mojo, Wheel, Torch, Mecca and so on & on & on from where it started for me was soul nights in the early 60's Wigan was eary 70's i did say some of you were not old enough to remember so sorry to those that were dendog

Eastington???? Is that up north in Geordie land because ower lass cumes frum up thier I think its cal;ed Whickham so any way Hinney To put a finer picture on Northern Soul, to all you out there that thinks it was Wigan was the first place where it began YOU ARE WRONG most of you will not be old enough from when it started. The so called gospel church Wigan Casino only took Northern soul to another level in the early stages the sounds were good but then the pop pickers came and changed it, some liked the new sounds and stayed others went the other way to keep to the sounds they liked before. SO any one for this bus trip to Wigan this weekend 25 pound none refundable ticket with wrist band ooops well if Im going to get the blame for it who gives a oot Im letting myself go and getting down to the same level as some on here dendog

Coop you mist a good night at the fez last Friday the dance floor was banging and you could feel the floor move because its sprung, with the new sound system the hair at the back of your neck stood up with over 200 true entertainers from across the country came danced & listened to sounds from the past from Al Taylor, Graham Weaver, Mort, Rob Wicks and myself there were some tunes played a couple of times but the floor stayed full. I wish to thank Glyn Williams for taking some picks. Here we go with my track list played and also on the Anniversary CD: Baby You're The Fire, If This Is Love, You've Been Away, Dance, Dance, Dance, Soul Time, I'm Falling In Love With You Baby, Hurt, A Little Bit Hurt, I Can't Change, Oh My Darling, Competition Ain't Nothing, Landslide, Our Love Will Grow, Angel Baby (Don't You Ever Leave Me), The Shotgun & The Duck, Have Some Everybody, I'm Where It's At, Run For Cover, You Don't Mean Me No Good, Blowing Up My Mind, This Will Be A Night To Remember & my last record was Take Me Girl Im Ready. dave In the 50 when rock-n-roll was the craze it was the only thing you heard on the radio no television back then for us poor folk. But when we got one you saw the same old music thing Rock-n-Roll which was good but never gave me soul, until a lass called Dusty Springfield hosting the Ready Steady Go I had heard her before but not in the same light has when she did a Motown Special on the television. When she did her version of Mary Wells -You Lost The Sweetest Boy, Dusty's performances by far was the turning point for me I then followed road to what I called soul music thank you Dusty ps i have seen a clip of the same some song on this forum have a look see dendog

ALL VENUES ARE IN THE MIDLANDS Reading what some have said regarding venues and the policy, it is of great importance to understand small venues with 70.or.80 soulies in!! a dance floor for 20ish only pleases some!! At the Fez possibly the biggest room in the midlands its our 2nd Anniversary this Friday and at first it was a struggle and very costly even in the early days my goal was to please as many soulies as poss now two years on sticking to what I believe, and dodging all the knives that was thrown from other "promoters" say that it will not work guess what still here pleasing over 140 at the last count My mate back flip runs Kingsway Hall and keeps the Northern Soul Oldies Only policy same as the Fez and he gets 100+ most of the time We as a team also run a bank holiday Monday at Forest Town Welfare we call it Festival Hall & Kingsway Togetherness with the same police and the same amount of soulies all go away to come back another day so I think we are doing something right. Backflips new venue East Kirkby Miners welfare, both back flip and I was fed up with the weekenders, and saw a spot vacant for all the soulies that could not get or fed up with the ever so frequent weekenders that are popping up every month and killing the small venues!!! So East Kirkby is trying to please the 70 or so giving them some were to go. Djs for the 29th sep are Kev Smedly & Keith Banks two of the finest djs from the midlands and on the Sat 30th Gats & Martin Webster We are both sorry for not pleasing the people that want to listen to, I think its called crossover modern floor fillers we only play and beleave Northern Soul Oldies it must stay alive we itntend to do what we have to do SO Sean OLDIES ONLY WHERE IT ALL STARTED K.T.F Dendog
