Sad to hear. A few of us put a soul night on back in B'ham around the early nineties and we had Esher as one of the DJs. On the night without prompting he offered to take a reduced fee to help us out, always remember that. RIP John

Otis Clay - The Only Way Is Up/Special kind of love - Echo - VG - £45 SOLD Both sides have a lightish grey circle in the middle of the grooves which means it was likely in a jukebox at one time hence the VG grade, these marks do not affect play and cannot be heard. Some light crackle and pop on the quiet intro and outro but this plays strong. I've bought records graded VG++ that have looked and played worse than this. O.C.Smith - Double Life/The Season - Columbia (White Demo) - VG++ (or old school Ex) £20 Just the odd light paper mark showing in strong electric light The Ponderosa Twins + One - I Remember You/Bound Astroscope - M- £15 P & P 2.50 recorded in the UK - Elsewhere please ask. Find My Way - Unreleased/unknown Version (Now Identified)
El Corol replied to Amsterdam Russ's topic in Look At Your Box
Interesting thread. Art Posey sounds to me to be very influenced by Johnny Mathis in his phrasing. Nice version. -
John Manship had some at one time, I'm sure it was in his "Highly Recommended" section so presumed he would have had multiple copies at that time, maybe about 10 years ago?

Slightly off topic but bear with me. Tonight I walked to my local shops, had to cross a road at a zebra crossing some dickhead 20 + plus decides he is not only going to not stop for me to cross he is also going to rev his motor and try to go as fast as he can through the crossing (I regularly use that crossing with my young kids, who are a little less wary and more trusting than me) I stare and shake my head, the cnut then slows down ( I can see he checks his rear mirror to check my reaction) and then carries on. Unbelievable the twat acts like a cnut and then when you look at him dissaproving he looks as though he wants to back himself up. Dickhead, but as the original poster states got 25 plus years on me. MORAL of the story there are too many dickheads in this world, everywhere! And we aren't as young and and physical as we once were.

You can always just play Marvin Gaye You're a Wonderful One, maybe pitch it down slightly and there won't be too much difference, just the lyrics :-)

I have the number plate: R 5OUL for sale at a reasonable price if anyones interested?????? I think a much cheaper way of having a personalised number plate is to just change your name by deed poll to your cars registration. Regards: PT11 KHT

Leaving aside the big indemanders, longtime classics, records that are both great and scarce etc. I'm sometimes gobsmacked at some of the prices asked for what I think are pretty average or in some cases crap records. I know its all subjective and "one mans meat is anothers poison". However some of what I'm talking about are the sorts of records that used to get left in record shops because they weren't much good, simple as that, yet now for sale at prices that seem ludicrous (to me) all becuase they fit into a genre such as Northern, R n B, Popcorn. Also what I hate is when £30, 40, 50 records are described as cheap. Sure compared to the big hitters that is cheap but in everyday life is that cheap (or is that just me?) Three of them a week and thats £90 to £150! Personally I think that prices have a lot to do with the popularity of the new wave of reissues. Oh one last thing, when people say things like "this should be going for £500 not £50 its that good" or "£15 but sounds like a £1000 record". I know its sales patter but it says something about how we equate expensive and good. Moan over.

I don't normally join in this one, but Channel 3 really? Dry Well whats that normally go for, £348 not bad for a cover of a Moody Blues song!
-
Well if anyone wants a copy I'll flog you one. I'll knock a nought off and call it £50, the only thing is you'll have to wait a few weeks coz I need to buy it from the states for $10 and wait for delivery. Yes its that rare!!!!!
