  1. I used to like Jimmy Burns version, but to be honest they all sound so so to me these days.
  2. Talking of RCA, both RCA singles by Beverley Ann also used to get played a lot.
  3. Ones I remember from the “ Lacca” that used to get played a fair bit; off the top of my head: Benny Spellman - Fortune Teller Rufus Lumley - Stronger Than Me Flame n King - Oh Happy Day Main Change - Sunshine is Her Way As mentioned in the article above Sammy Davis Jr - You Can Count On Me Eddie Holman - This Will Be a Night To Remember Also remember an instrumental version of Sweet Talkin’ Guy ( The Chiffons one) but no idea who it was by, I think Clive Jones used to play it. I also remember him playing Casonova by Coffee and moaning it had nothing to do with Northern Soul.
  4. Another sad loss, I Travel Alone was a big record for me in my early days on the scene, saw him at Hinckley back in the 80s. I guess Tobi and Laine were right.
  5. And I mean that with respect, you were privileged to be ahead of the game in terms of the UK scene.
  6. Top trumps, you win Rob.
  7. Always sad to hear of someone passing.
  8. Yes, I agree. Snowboys book gives a much broader and in-depth view of the jazz funk scene.
  9. The following LP wanted: Satisfaction Unlimited ‎– Think Of The Children - Hot Wax Original please in prefer EX and above but will consider VG+ if its a decent VG+ Please PM if can help Thanks
  10. Which IMO can take us down the path to paying over the odds for crap condition....... Nice tie in with Don Covay though Dave. I suppose if you buy a cracked record then “The Only Way Is Up”grade when you can.
  11. You’d think so wouldn’t you, but I’m still surprised by what people ask for cracked records when offered up for sale.
  12. Not sure if this has been on here before but it put a smile on my face.
  13. Check Discogs if no luck on here, there’s some on there.
  14. Both books in excellent condition: £3 each or £5 for the two plus post at cost (need to check with PO). PM if interested.
  15. Weren’t the rockers in the upstairs room on these nights if I remember correctly?
  16. The original "crate digger" R.I.P. John
  17. Amazing voice IMHO. R.I.P. Lou and thanks.
  18. Thanks Ian
  19. Which release was auctioned??
  20. Hmmm, are we talking the 60s or other decades as I'm thinking Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Donald O Connor & Russ Tamblyn didn't look too divvy. Or are you talking about clips of the man in the street, so to say?
  21. The best version in my opinion. It's unusual for a record to come along and beat the version(s) you've listened to for years (well not too hard to beat Stemmons Express )
  22. Anyone have a Light in the Attic 2nd issue for sale? Please PM Thanks Rob
  23. Can't disagree, certainly soulful, just I'm not so mad for the tune.
