If I remember correctly we were asked if we wanted the tv cameras to film at Wigan casino
Think the vote was a resounding no
Did not go when they filmed myself
But I heard that those who did had to sign a consent form anyone remember this ?
My mate graham W. from holmewood chesterfield had "I'm a riker Liker "on his holdall then wondered why the squad used to target him
Wasn't there an americwn record lable called rika?
It was set back off of the main road think it is Mansfield road
The club on the roundabout at holmewood was
Sherridans Country club and the pub accriss the road was the Williamthorpe
Sherridans dud have an upstairs room
Google maps temple normanton Bonds was near the old school that is still there new houses are now built on the club site
Grassmoor right track soul club in parish hall
Temple normanton is the place where the miners welfare was there was a pub across from it on a rased mound lords arm I think
It wa known as bonds main cis that was the name of one if the coal mines that was at temple normanton

No they were just a plain upper no pattern
I've got two pair of loakes at the moment one dark brown one black the black ones have felt dancing soles in them not allowed outside at alll
Think I'm nearly twice the weight I was when I was attending Wigan
Lose wright the northern soul way ?
Best shoes I had for dancing red leather royals from the army store think they were officers shoes ?
£5 wakefields army store chesterfield in 77 had the re-soled about 3 times until the uppers split these were only ever used on the dance floor never went out in them used to carry them in a plain black holdall with towel spare shirt and trousers on and a bottle of brut!
Polyvelts? Looked ok on girls can't remember any of my mates wearing them
Wasn't too keen on the crossovers either
Keep on dancing
As I've says before circa 78/9
Back to sta pres Ben shermans Fred perys brogues for me
Gone the 30 inch bags
Gone the badges and patches
A whole new skinhead suede head mod style was back in for me
Clean cut and smart was always my ideal look
But from about 74 two years before I went Wigan we started to leave the sta prest Dic mart Ben Sherman style behind and wore those awful Oxford bags then even wider parallel trousers
At first high waist band then single waist band white leather belt
I always wore a Fred perry polo shirt for dancing(still do never wore a bowling shirt or bowling shoes !!
Love the more smarter style myself
But each to their own
Great insight into the Origanal wheel days Brian
Did you ever play it at 45rpm instead of 33rpm ?
Bet that would get Thier feet moving
Hope to see Roy tonight I will bring this up and I'm sure he will tell me some more tales from the olde days
The planning application meeting re the developement of the wheel site was adjourned for a month full further details on the twisted wheel forum

If I remember correctly the mushroom was more of a hippy joint when on newbold road
Afghan coats kaftans and weird long haired types
No wonder they kicked us out when they moved into the record centre ;)
Spike
Roy did wonder what had happened to the cut down copy
Was it a regular thing to do in the 60's?
And why was it done ?
Are you a friend of Roy's
I will be seeing him Friday night and I'll mention this thread to him
Spike

In 1978 I paid 50p for the taj mahal album natch'l blues this has ain't that a lotta love on it It was in one of those boxes upstairs in the mushroom
In 78 this tune was a massive big floor stomper at Wigan
I did not realise that it was first played back in the 60's at the wheel
Roy Harrison told me that the wheels copy was the album cut down to 7 inch proportions don't know if this is true or if it was ever realeasd in the 60's as a single ??
Over to you lot;)
Went past hudsons yesterday afternoon
