The palais was my first alldayer cica76 went there with Gray weaver mona doz Rob Chris n Andy and all the rest of the chesterfield 70s soul crew!
That revolving dance floor !!!! Could be a bit tricky especially if you'd been sammmys Friday Wigan Saturday the on to the Pallas for the alldayer.
Can't remember many lads n lasses names from notts n Mansfield but we used yo have a great time with you lot then !
One name sticks though Mandy ?? From notts??? Also used to meet at the britt oh happy days

Is that John Vincent your on about??
He and a few more lads used to come into a record shop were me and me mates hung out and helped in when I was 16 I was scared shitless by him n HHS long leather coat wearing mates!!!
Sammanthas february 1976 I'd been going allnighters for about a month. Been taking gear fir about 3 weeks!! Dancing in the "newies" room to tunes like the flasher ???(Kin ell we rearly did!) summer in the parks Zola I'm yo pimp all fast shuffle stomper types. At one point a blond woman who looked in her twenties high heeled shoes +handbag seemed to be taking some intest in me and my dancing (I was 16 at the time thought I'd trapped!)
How do you keep dancing so fast and how do you manage to keep going for so long? she asked seductivly between tunes
Before I could answere I was bungled away by two of my older mates told fxxck off and hide in the oldies room for an hour???
She's squad you divvy twxt they told me!!!
Her and two of her big beefy mates later cornered me in the cafe area sat me down and warned me about the dangers of taking speed did not search me but I sat there shaking wondering if they could arrest me and take me for a urine test I'm sure that they knew I was off my case think they wanted to scare the shite outta me it worked cos a couple of weeks after that I stopped going sammmys went to Wigan for the next 4 years never got caught with gear got stopped n searched plenty of times but it made me weary of people who just did not seem to fit in at nighters!!

twisted wheel manchester only plays sounds that were origonally playe d at the wheel before it closed in 1971.
look on events for dates well worth going if you like old sixties soul and there is a friendly atmostphere with all ages atending from 18 to sixty plus all having a great time
spike chesterfield
thats interesting because john vincent used to come to the record shop where i and my mates "helped out " instead of going to school
he used to come saturday mornings with loads of other older guys after they had been to sammanthas in sheffield or cleethorpes perhaps thats where and when i heared it i dont know how i aquired the copy but its got me thinking that before the floppy disc one of us had it on a cassette
spike
dont know if this should be on look in your box but here goes
circa 1974/5 i am sure that i had a promotional one sided floppy style vinyl of the gordens gin advert theme tune as i was only 15/16 at the time it was pre my allnighter days.
One of the older guys who i knew said it wa played at wigan i never heared it played there but i did not go to wigan until the summer of 1976.
can any one shed any light on this for me?
i cannot even remember how the tune goes! its just that someone on soul source mentioned it and it got me thinking
thanks spike

that was the thing just dance. but my favourite who i and most of the chesterfield crowd tried to copy was jethro so smooth and in time with the beat and he was a realy nice guy to talk. to first saw him dance when i was 16 at wigan 1976 never forget his moves, but i still think i agree just dance who cares not me i am still trying at the twisted wheel manchester
spike
