  1. You could try a different tack and ask if someone could actually ID the vocalist, probably called Jimmy someone - Robbk is a whiz at it jimmy someone.mp3
  2. The best thing to do is keep checking Youtube posts and maybe one day will comment saying 'that's my dad, uncle, cousin etc etc In the meantime groove along to (Cry Baby Cry?)
  3. Roddie sings 'Roddie' Little Willie G sings 'Willie' so you could be right with a James taking the lead on the Stoppers! But there's an unreleased version where the singer, Rodney, sings 'Dave'
  4. On BBC Sounds starts about 1:30 in. She's 80, but still seems to have a decent recollection, but over the years I've often been inclined to wonder what is factual and what's just her 'interpretation' of events. Obviously, hasn't been able to hold a tune for decades. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0011zcr
  5. As they say "I've heard worse" and it looks like all the world on on the balcony!
  6. you could get your hands on a copy of the CD A Cellarful Of Motown! Volume 2 and take it from there. Or get a download of it from amazon for .99p https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001KWGURO/ref=dm_ws_sp_ps_dp
  7. The 'Motown Invasion' documentary is sill on youtube
  8. You waffle Luke? You could have saved 80 words on you last post..................... .................................. 'Oh b*llocks to it all'
  9. I suppose the analogue recordings sound like they do because of the equipment they were recorded on; mixing desks the size of a garden shed, valve powered amps etc to end up on magnetic tape. Then to be released on vinyl and cassette tapes which us older folk grew up listening to and maybe for nostalgic reasons prefer? Digital is a totally different scenario, needs only a laptop and half decent software. I remember buying early CDs of 70’s albums and thinking how much tape hiss they had. They were subsequently ‘digitally remaster’, but sounder very dull as the top end was reduced to ‘remove’ the hiss It’s ironic that people are spending fortunes on software to make their digital recording sound like the old analogue ones! Slice up two tates for 're-issue' and boil one in oil and the other in water, the outcome you preferr is down to taste?. Maybe best consumed raw?
  10. The originals have the Monarch Pressing Plant MR in a circle and Delta # 72913-X in the dead wax and will probably be a few hundred £. The 're-issue', worth about £20, but no doubt people will be asking for more, bide your time.
  11. yes, stick it on the less favored side. the thinness of the razor blade will not stop it laying almost 'flat' on the record deck, so you should be able to play it OK. Pane of glass or ceramic tile will help you get the edges of the crack level
  12. if you can get your hands on some old fashioned razor blades & polystyrene glue, you should be able to fix it. Put it on a piece of glass to level things out and apply the glue very thinly around the edges of the blade.
  13. my two penneth Vocal1 ctd xyz.mp3
  14. the song is actually about masturbation
  15. could have been cut on a visit to ATS when they were on a 'busy' day?
  16. Slightly what?
  17. In the early 89's Guy Hennigan was playing a load of 'band tracks' of Detroit stuff, one of which was the Valentinos. I think they had come from the same studio tapes find, but no idea where the tapes were located.
  18. do you happen to know about why there were two different designs of the promotional WD labels?
  19. I am trying to find out some info on website called 'MOTOWN, Key Dates, Musicians, Performers.' it's URL was http://www.funandmusic.biz/music-motown.htm. Does anyone know who was behind it and if it is re-hosted anywhere? TIA Simon
  20. Many years ago someone posted on here the separate 8 tracks to ANMHE. bass drums drums & tamborine guitar piano & xylophone strings vocal - marvin vocal - Tammi Did any other (Motown) songs recordings ever turn up? And were did those ANMHE ones come from, they obviously must have had access to the studio tape at some point.
