  1. Has anyone actually had a successful claim for a lost package with PO/RM? if so, did they pay compensation in full or do you need 'over insure' to get the full value back?. And, if you're posting to Europe are their T&Cs re comp the same? I am contemplating posting to a French 'boogie' collector, but wonder if i should bother.
  2. I found this a couple day but didn't bother posting. I think the CL 36 relates to something financial. I was wondering if Mr Rouse financed the Rouser label releases in exchange for having his name as the , producer etc on the label;. Sort of like 'executive' producers do with films sometimes, no production input, just the financial backing.
  3. can't credit source as it from a RSS file of a defunct site " While fans of the late 1960s Western series The Guns of Will Sonnett loved Walter Brennan’s bold catchphrase “No brag, just fact,” only 18 year-old trumpet player Tiny Barge (pictured second from right) of the El Corols Band and Show thought it would make a great chorus for a song. Formed by several junior high school students in 1958, the El Corols Band and Show played covers of popular songs in clubs and private events around Washington DC and performed with The Temptations at The Howard Theatre, Dionne Warwick at the Shore Hotel, and The Supremes at Carr’s Beach of the Chitlin’ Circuit. After rehearsing for weeks in a barbershop on H St. NE in 1968 the El Corols Band and Show walked in Aadvark Studios in Silver Spring, MD and cut two songs—the Guns of Will Sonnett inspired “Chick Chick” and “You Gotta Be An Angel” co-written by Tiny Barge and future Motown songsmith Fangette Willett. The band released the 45 on Tiny Records and Rouser Records and radio stations WOOK and WOL helped popularize “Chick Chick” in the DC area. Over 20 years members of the El Corols Band and Show included Johnny Freeman on trombone (left); Robert Freeman on trumpet; Robert Battle on drums; Milton Grant on bass; Charles Robinson and Dewy Holloway on baritone saxophone; Carter Jefferson, Ron Holloway and Linwood Newbold on saxophone; Eddie Hicks and Gregory “Guitar Greg” Gaskins on guitar; Frank Delany on congas, Tiny Barge, Donald Tillery, and “Sir” Joe Quarterman on trumpet; Karissa Freeman on keyboards, Little Wimpy Johnson, Sydney “El Sid” Peoples, and Jimi “Senor” Smoot on vocals; and the El Coroletts—“Little” Yvonne Glover (second from left), Brenda Brown (right), Renada Dowd, and Arlene Williams. Other band members were Bobby Allen, Edward Freeman, and Earl Brown. Though the El Corols Band and Show eventually disbanded in the 1970s, they inspired many musicians in Washington, DC and served as a springboard for several members including Elvis’ band mate Guitar Greg, Carter Jefferson, Donald Tillery of The Soul Searchers, Tiny Barge, and “Sir” Joe Quarterman.
  4. After a couple of googles, more confusion. Jay Wiggins 1963, Richard Harris 1968. Chick Chick issued 3 times?
  5. The Rouser release was in 1971
  6. You could always stick a 'test press' label on it and double it's value
  7. I didn't realise there are any expensive records on the Shrine label!. For best results source another copy and get the record colour photocopied at somewhere like Rymans, Staples etc - best way the get the correct size and colours. If you want to remove the centre portion, invest in a new pair of 'curved' scissors. Remove the bulk then carefully trip the edges, but don't allow the scissors the fully close, like when tailors cut cloth, else you'll get a 'snip' Stick labels on with water based glue
  8. Fished this off the www many years ago, but dismissed it as i thought an issue would be red.
  9. Matt black label silver text, looked nice - recording as rough as a buzzard's crotch!
  10. So there's ? 1. NC released 2. ME unreleased 7" test press (Butch) different 1st verse 3. RP / AN 10" HDH acetate voc & instrumental 4. RP / AN 10" HDH acetate vocal both sides (Cunnie) 5. 10" acetate version (missing carver taken from) 6. another 10" acetate (Constellation) ??? version
  11. Found the tape, labelled 16/05/87 ? / Just Like The Weather / HDH 10" studio acetate voc & instr
  12. That scan looks like the time is 2:36. The sound file I have is 2:16 as it's missing the 15 second intro. As the backing track is the same as NC, I'd just need to copy the intro on to ME. Otherwise i think there pretty much the same except the lyrics of the first verse. I wonder which came first?
  13. I remember it being 10" voc / instr. Nowt special. I have both sides on a cassette somewhere, but not good enough to warrant the time to look through 1000's of tapes to find it. I think NCFC on here used to own it
  14. Butch played it at Prestatyn 2010
  15. Comparing the two sound files, the instrumentation and female backing seem to be the same to my ears. the MH is about 15 seconds shorter than NC, but this just might be that it goes straight to the first verse. The first verse on ME and NC are different lyrics
  16. It was a tounge-in-cheek post Rob.
  17. Right, everyone has a punt at 5p a go. By the time the real identity is confirmed, the prize pot with be worth several thousand pounds. Here's my 5p worth: The Knight Brothers - Jimmy Diggs & Richard Dunbar - but knowing my luck, Richard is the one with the higher vocal!
  18. la la side Jimmy La La x.mp3
  19. You could try a different tack and ask if someone could actually ID the vocalist, probably called Jimmy someone - Robbk is a whiz at it jimmy someone.mp3
