  1. I wonder what the arabic for "turn off that sweet soul music" is?!!!!
  2. My issue (on styrene) is QAL 0077S - 1A IMNBWYW QAL 0078S -1A SNTD The higher number is almost always the B side of records. No idae why they both are followed by 1A, unless it tell you what pressing run it was, this being the first and 1E mentioned above is the 5th???
  3. Has the CD turned up yet?
  4. arrange red labels in a descending alphanumeric sequence what a brilliant idea, what order do you use for label colours, the rainbow? banned from going out, so in watching Casualty wishing them all dead, where the **** is Charlie these days?
  5. The funny thing is that many years ago Manship used to have a cheap section on his lists where "I may not be want you want" was always there at £1.50! It never seemd to sell. PS at the time, other none sellers were: Ray Pollard -This Time was £15 Jimmy BO Horne - Speak was £40 PSS turned down Lary Clinton @ £75 & Arin Demain @£50 too dear, F***.............. I could only afford Holly St James @£10 & James Fountain @ £3
  6. SO MANY RECORDS ARE MORE INDEMAND THAN THEY ARE RARE. link
  7. The Illusions boot is on styrene The Superlatives was released 3 times in different formats (pale blue label x2 and a yellow label), but it was also booted twice!!
  8. No, not unless the label promoter only presses up half a dozen copies to make instantly "rare" as has happened recently (can't remember the song ? something to do with Keb and the deepfunk scene)
  9. You have a point, but I think in reality you can divide the figure by four or more; in many of the cases there is an instrumental, a backing/ band track (i.e. everything but the vocal), the vocal (acapella) and the final complete thing. It possibly is true, when you consider a track like Suspicion, where there three known different versions and the intrumental too. If you take a song like the U/R Temptations 'Last one out is broken hearted', there are 4 diffent vocal takes; three by David Ruffin and one by Paul Williams all done in the same session. 60000 / 4 = 15000 15000 / 12 (1958 - 1970) = 1250 1250 / 52 weeks = 24 24 / 5 (not working at weekends) = 5 de novo songs a day It would be interesting to know just how many Jobete songs there are registered @ BMI
  10. I think this must get a prize for crap effort. If you are half blind and pissed you might just accept the squigal drawing of a marine mammal is a whale not a dolphin. The sea is topped with barbed wire and the tide in on one side and out on the other. The lettering is all over the shop and the hyphen & ? are missing. But apart from that.............
  11. and my nose was bleedin' cos my brain was haemmoraging at the thought of picking from a list of hundreds, and.... Jeez- if ya gotta explain it, it ain't funny. link
  12. Shit,,really! I'm sure most of us have loved and lost, but that's f*** all excuse to relocate to Belgium!!
  13. They all coke heads then? I know Patrice was mentally ill and in hospital for a while but I didn't realise it was drug induced - shame.
  14. It looks like it's gonna cost me more for the paper to print out my wants list, than my collection is worth!
  15. And don't tell me they're a fiver a time?! :-)
  16. And what's this one too? thanks
  17. Can anyone remind me what this is, please?
  18. ? Aretha Franklin Brenda Holloway Billie Holliday Ella Fitzgerald Dusty SpringField Anita Baker Beverly Knight Hilda Ogden
  19. There's a small group of (non-Northern) Motown interested blokes in the UK who collect anything and everything including unreleased stuff; one of them told me that's there are close to 60,000 unreleased Motown tracks on tapes in the Motown vault in LA.
  20. Ten bob and a blow job (from the seller!)
  21. I picked up a cheap CD comp of Teddy Pendergrass (The best of - The Philadelphia Collection) and can he sing! Was he 'developed' to be the Philly answer to Marvin Gaye? Also check out Lou Rawls on PIR (You'll never find another love), and on Epic (Stop me from starting this feeling)
  22. /index.php?showtopic=2840 The reason Ujima is slightly rare is because it is the b side of the issue only release. The demos are double sided and evidently didn't do too well. I should think the lack of interest in the demos being circulated at the time resulted in the issues being "withdrawn" and destroyed / melted down?
  23. still 2 cds missing. I'm happy to cobble something together and swap if anyone is interested. PM me your address
  24. Would have thought it'd be a Virtue acetate then! Don't Dick Charles acatetes tend to be more NY area recordings too?
