  1. I sent him a CD earlier in the year with Sammy Gaha on and he's never acknowledged me since!
  2. I'm sure somebody recently put a link up on here to an ebay sale of a CD with a starting price of $3000! There a several CD's from the early to mid 80's fetch a high price tag because there were not many made - very few CD players around and people rich enough to buy them - not enough CDs available of the popular vinyl = catch 22 situation. I don't think you even play them in a video disk player, if you happened to have one. There's an interview with Berry Gordy where he says one of his marketing ideas was to knock singles out at a low price so that if someone had a spare $ they would buy a record rather than buy a sandwich. They would be seen as 'disposable' and hence a high turn over from being able to buy the latest release and high profit for BG! IF you wanted something to keep long term you were encouraged to buy LP's and many LP's were re-recorded in the early to mid sixties (like Irma Thomas, often from scratch) to exploit the marketing of the new stereo format.
  3. Anyone else admit to buying it for the other side - you're like a mystery? Must have had at least 10 years before 'discovering' the other side!

  6. No. I bought an issue from soul bowl many years ago and was curious as to what it cost nowadays to buy it again!
  7. Just wondering what it went for ?
  8. I hope it's me, because I never got around to sending Ady the dosh for a ticket this week, F***!
  9. For me, his ultimate must be "Tell Me" (The Vows)
  10. Still got a tape of your recording of the album, bit late, but thanks!
  11. Turned down a copy of She's wanted in Manships shop in MM for £75 - well it did have a torn label !! And Arin Demain too for £50. There was a Jimmy Bo Horne record there for £40 that I didn't know. Having a £10 a disc limit at the time, I also declined Ray Pollard on Shrine for 15 notes!!!
  12. Ady Croasdell confirmed on here somewhere that he found the original acetate in a shop in NY, it had no name on it so they called it The Fab Impacs; he could remember exactly why, but it might have had something to do with the Fabulous Impacts - My Baby, being played around the time.
  13. Don't think it ever was. All I've seen are white demos.
  14. Saw one not long ago for £40
  15. Someone once told me you can cure some skips and scratches by finding the offending area and running a cocktail stick backwards and forward through the groove. Worth a try if desperate?
  16. Over 15 year ago a mate of mine, Nige Parker told me about a time he was DJing up North and having going past the venue a few times (one way system) finally parked up the road. He left his records in the back of his old fiesta to take a walk down to the venue to see if it was open. At that time, he must have had at least £20K worth of record in the box! Walking back up the hill to his car he spotted several item of clothing on the pavement and having passed a few of them suddenly realised they were his!!! He ran back to the car to find that just about everything like his road map etc, including the radio, was gone except for his records!! Lucky F#8ker!!!!!!
  17. Be even more puerile, like me, and sing 'horny' to it
  18. I'll admit to liking them as an aged chin stroking rarebod I particularly like 'sliced tomatoes'
  19. I thought they were still together and coming to Northampton soon?
