The best bit about vinyl, and I'm being serious, is the crackles and pops, especially during the run in - anticipation maybe?. Been addicted to it since stacking up Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey 45's on the spindle of my mother Garrard (?) mono record player!
  6. I was thinking of selling a few records and the consensus of opinion was to stick them up on ebay. Ebay occasionally send out emails promoting free listing and I was wondering if it’s as easy and hassle free as they claim? What are the main pit falls I should be aware of? Also: Ebay or only ebay.co.uk? How many days for the listing? Starting price & any reserve price? Paypal and getting your hands on the actual cash? Thanks in advance Simon
  7. Anybody who as got Rob Thomas's number, give him a call, he knows the label owner!
  8. Perhaps some were released as 5## series and some 1### series? On the labels there is a 5## number under the artist and a 1### in the middle left under tru glo town production. The white labels are demos, with the raibow / TGT tunning folk logo. However some like Joe Moore came out on a white demo with just big block captitals logo. Either way MBLTB sold many, many copies and the Royal Robins bugger all so that's another label not to start collecting!
  9. Aren't the original TGT release matt paper and the colourful one 'shiney' paper?
  10. Have they both got the TGT 'tunning folk' in the middle of the rainbow?
  11. Fair enough Kev. Anyone want to buy an original of Moses Dillard?
  12. I don't accept that 'punters' ( a word I hate but can't think of a better word) Patrons?
  13. You can pick up a copy of Little Dooley - It's Got To Be Now Or Never for £5 on either Red Ruby or North Bay; it's got to be the most underated, undervalued, but brilliant record ever.

Just out of interest, I once met two blokes (brothers) & record dealers in Chicago who grew up in 60's Detroit in their teens. They told me that being from the white community, "race" music was not acceptable and they used to steal soul record from the shops (couldn't be seen buying them) and play them when their parents were out the house!! Also, "My Leading Lady" was a huge seller locally as the blokes in High school bought it for their girlfriends.
