  1. You are obvioulsy thinking of Gerri Diamond from your relpy you Chalky. However, Guy & Keb also used to play another 'wait for the beat' i.e. Patti Livingston - I've got my baby, now that does start with a bit of wailing!
  2. I think it first surfaced about 20 years ago and saw it on a Dave Rasitrick list, but can't remember if it was a c/u around that time. Only ever seen it for sale once since then on a list from Paul Capon @ £200 about 3 years ago; Paul couldn't remember having it for sale and thought he may have been selling it for someone. I reckon it's extremely rare and not a bad record too boot.
  3. Being a dick I file them by Label, purple one isn't it? Check out the Hairy Diamods
  4. Mark Obviously, having all the MAXX releases, please could you post up the discography. Love giving up, Van M magic!.
  5. By Any Means Necessary? love and a kiss Malcolm X
  6. Sorry, how about Lorraine Silver -Lost summer love on Casino Clasics, which there are actually less of?
  7. Peach of a post! The only thing is that they're paying far more than ten times the price.
  8. Little Major Williams on Williams III
  9. Best one I've ever seen was "I shot Westwood" No I didn't, as the #### wasn't properly slotted!
  10. Is it Peters & Lee without Peters, but with some of Lee's sisters? I can't quite place the singer, but she is quite well known; I can picture her now, a big helga of a woman, blackheads and a grimassing face! natalie imbruglia?
  11. I was thinking of a time when someone said to me that the DJ spinning had one of the best collections in the country and wondered how you could justify the statement. I would admit that they have one of the most expensive collections consisting of around 200 -300 records, but I'm certain they have never been more than spoon-fed them by other collectors & dealers. Probably only bought them for ego and kudos, and I can't imagine them having racks of cheap stuff and certainly not any non-'northern'. I wonder how long they would hold on to them if niters / soul nights / northern per se no longer exisited?
  12. Can't find it, but it's on a yellow label, Mystic 4? Jimmy Dockett - Take a chance.
  13. Reading through threads, particularly 'events' and have seen that "xxxx" / "DJ XXXX" has a great collection. Just wonder what everyone thinks constitutes such a collection? £100K+ of originals? 10,000+ original pieces of vinyl? 200 one-offs? 100 un-released studio acetates? A framed, autographed copy of Wank Wilson, plus signed photo of Lenny Gamble?
  14. --> QUOTE(Mike B @ Apr 19 2006, 07:29 PM) link I sold a copy on ebay mint minus for £250 only one bid - cheap I thought, but I didn't lose out on the deal either so everyone was happy - as far as I know this did turn up in some quantity not 100's but enough to bring the price down. IMO anyone looking for £700 will be waiting for a long time. A handful turned up about 5 years ago, I seem to remember. Sounds like someone was drunk when making it & someone was drunk when he bought it!
  15. Some how thought the green / 208 were legit 70's reissues for demand from the Belgian market?
  16. Larry Wedgewood - No more games Bobby Cutchins - I did it again Colors - Am I gonna be the one Mother Fox - Fallen into love (Perpetual Motion) Satin - Your loves got me Curtin Anderson - The hardest part Earl White Jnr. -Very special girl Jesse James - I can feel your love vibes Carlena Williams - Soulful drop in the bucket and the sound of that little revolving dance floor at the top of 'The Top Of The Grot'
  17. It was 2 out of that 3 that told me they pay 70% of the market price, but perhaps that's for the cream of a collection?
  18. Obviously, sometimes the acetate was cut up the road and the wrong title was accidently written on the label. However, a few times the 'original' song title was registered for Jobete at BMI e.g. Temps - Last one out is broken hearted, for the song lyrics to undergo and almost re-write before the track was cut in the studio with an title that now had no seemingly real conection with it's first outing.
  19. "All the way from Chicago, The Albanians & The Same Thing" " Cindy Scott - Only You Can Feel The Loss.......... wait for the beat" " This ones catching on faster than AIDS, Toni Micheals & More Luck To You Baby"
