    Erm, what was that, northern soul on a Bontempo? 1. when you released a record recently and then include it on your 'greatest hits 1872 - 2023 you know your musical career is over. Presumptions or what? OK, so your auditioning it at Glastonbury this year, but not on the Legends slot yeah? 2. if you are going to do a cover, make an effort, put your own style on it, try BBC Live Lounge style as opposed to a karaoke bar. e.g.

    The copy i saw definitely had 1872 on the label 'Not for Sale - Promotion Only', maybe it was an Advance Copy (boom, boom)

    If you can get me a good sound file of the 'moods' acetate, I'd be eternally grateful. I don't know anyone, except Carl who would be able to provide one or indeed has one. My question was really to see if someone would post up 'where have you been living, in a cave?' It's ABC, on the b side of XYZ that came out on Casino Classics in 1872 with a picture sleeve in Azerbaijan.

    Good luck with that one Karl, I've known Carl for 40 years +and for half of those I've been trying to get a sound file off him to no avail. Although he did once offer to hum it down the phone for me!

    Thanks, memory jogged. MM was labelled as the Phonetics Band. It was amongst those Detroit instrumentals that Guy Hennigan had about 40 years ago The 'Moods' is a one sided Bell Sound acetate that I last had in my hands 20 years ago give or take a week. Only got two 'recordings' of it when Carl Fortnum played it out. I'm sure it came via a UK dealer

    Seen all three. Acting doesn't improve, waited for Stephen Graham to come and save the day., unfortunately he did not make an appearance. 3/10 in respect of 'dead man's shoes' Next Wednesday at 9, turn over to ITV and watch the first episode of Manhunt !

    Once Upon a Time in Northern Ireland - the 5 episodes are in BBC Iplayer I found this a definite 'must watch' they say don't talk about religion and politics which is what this about, but then again it isn't, it's about the people living through the times of 'The Troubles' Probably better explained here: https://connect.open.ac.uk/history-and-the-arts/once-upon-a-time-in-northern-ireland "Contains scenes that some people may find upsetting"

    Myth or twaddle? When I was very young, I was told of a collector of soul records who had every Motown or was it Detroit soul record. Nobody really knew him as he had no connection to the northern scene. Most probably, nowhere near the truth, but I often wondered who the mysterious ‘London taxi driver’ was - Keyser Söze?
