  1. Manus, thank you for your reply, I met my partner, about eight years later. We had a very good supply of mobile discos in the area, all playin' northern, and the DJ'S very upfront, with advanced acetates, the likes of, exciters, evelyn thomas etc, plus a healthy amount of collectors, with original vinyl.

He asked me to sell his records for him at a leicester all nighter, top sounds in his box at that time,( from memory), venturas-heart of love, larry allen-can we talk it over etc. Never done for money, but he gave me, lou roberts-you fooled me- issue( complete with his usual descriptive comments) and king george-I'm gonna be somebody-uk rca demo, both priceless to me, as I still have them. Plus, all the memories, and hospitality he gave me, before and after all nighters, but that's another story.

  6. I put a small uk soul list out in 1988/1989 of records I picked up, mid to late 70's', all uk demos, one of which, was 100% pure poison, stamped, not stickered, each record £2, someone got a bargain, since then, I picked the lp up, from a local charity shop £1.
  7. R.Searling, also played an inst, covered up, as Detroit Brass( also a brassy version), it was actually, la bert ellis on A&M.
  8. As I only visited manchester, mid 70's, was it any of these, Tony Just records( also a stand up comedian, with Dave McCadden), oasis market, or Record Collector,near, Victoria station, also, in Blackpool.

  10. You should have seen, how many copies of hang on-big bird, we left in the states, mind you though, it's never been a big money record, has it?.
  11. I've googled myself, and found out the following, not known to me, l.h and the memphis sounds, all tied in with the stax empire. Actually Charles Axton under LH name, died from liver troubles( alcohol related), unreleased material, on master tapes.Full story, Story of stax.

I don't often sell/trade records, but a few spring to mind, magnetics-I have a girl( traded with, gary rushbrooke and co, first played copy, wigan casino), ace spectrum-don't send nobody else, £5, tony's empress,(guy hennigan, period), and at wigan, bobby 'guitar'woods, after being pressed, £5.

Right, here's my pennyworth, to the best of my knowledge, john beecher(roller coaster records), had the rock and roll pop stuff, ie sun, phillips etc, and roger banks had the related r&b, soul stuff, ie king etc, plus all shelf stock. Unless I'm told differently, ther weren't many major items left, although, styles do change. Mind you though, as has been reported before, there's been some mighty fine records, come out of there. Is Ed Balbier, still alive?.

  18. I had this record(uk), mid seventies, and somehow it went missing, then mid eighties, uncle Wid( Pete Widdison), comes to the rescue, a mint copy, £5. Result, I could never thank him enough. The record, is currently played at our local Burscough British Legion, by myself and Mick Howard, Soulfully yours, Otis.
