  6. Merry christmas, everyone.I am sure there are lots of stories, still untold.I can add my pennyworth for now.I took over from Rick Cooper at global, and believe me, there were still plenty of sounds to be had.Harry starr, bobby guitar woods,magnetics-i have a girl, terry callier-look at me now, george kirkby-what can I do,eddie holman-I surrender(how many do you want), and countless other titles as one offs or handfuls.Whilst working there I had a welcoming phone call, off Rob Lythall. My boss, Ed Balbier, guessed what the phone call was about.time off granted and trip planned, and we were away.Back to House of Sounds, a visit was made, and to my knowledge, had been well scoured as stated.Large crates, and mainly c/w,pop.we used the lift to cover all the floors.Still it was an experience. All the best,Nigel.A.
  7. About nearly 40 yrs a go,southport dixieland, monday night,dj happy, and one guest dj, brian rae, and he played, muriel day.
  8. There is a USA dble lp.various-starship-the de-lite superstars,benny troy 4mins 56seconds.
  9. I was hoping to go last year, but sadly didn't.I have it on good authority.northern soul wise, deals are done outside, and in hotel lobbys, but you need good contacts, sorry, I cannot supply.
  10. Mid eighties, I used to get regular sales lists off richard, and bought many casettes loaded with tunes off him.Vinyl wise Jimmy Robbins-uk president.I also received letters from him and met him at stafford, he had the brooks brothers on his list, for a fiver, asked me why I hadn't bought it.Simple I didn't know it then,He sold it to someone who helped sell his mags.
  11. Rob, used to dj at belle vue allnighter, then sold up, and set up V.I.P record fairs. It may be that same copy.He also had an unreleased acetate, version of it's all over me, and it was otis blackwell.
  12. Rob lythall, had a vocal version, cut on acetate, played at wigan, and apparently, a guy from leicester, singing.
  13. clarence jackson if it dont fit dont force it, apollos determination
  14. I myself have known keith for nearly 40 years. There are many stories to tell, two briefly, my mrs and I st helens car boot, pouring with rain, keith turns up, just a denim jacket, after a introduction and a banter, promises he'll have a coat on next time.Wigan market, mid seventies, regular visitor, someone else gets a bag full of decent motown, keith dejected, walks away, stall holder calls him back, another bag, these might be of interest, most of the uk polydor releases, keith walks away, big smile, one happy bunny. After recent visits to burscough legion, we hadn't seen him for a while. Your kindess, knowledge, memories, laughter, will stay with us. R.I.P Keith, god bless, Nigel and Judy.
  15. The pound sign, is above the 3, on the keyboard.
  16. Had 5 copies of Harry Starr, mid 70's, sold 4 copies, £10 each, at the casino, kept one, still have it.

  18. Is 'Praise him' on the album, asa that's another good track, by them.
  19. Fred kroll played it off 45 when he dj'd at st theresas southport.
  20. I used to enter Mr m's via gerrys inn, pint, pool and then early session, with searling, soul twins etc. I had found a copy of James Coit and len barry- you baby, in a secondhand shop, in southport, that very same day. Both sold that night, as soon as I got there, more than likely, already known, by then. Since, led to believe James coit, to have been a soul pack record.
  21. Bostocks Manchester, while I worked at Global, few copies of Frank Dell lp. Then down south for another record wholesaler, where we used to buy and sell( to Paul), sadly he died, in a car crash, devastated!.
  22. For me at the time, first stop Gerry's inn, a pint, games of pool, then through to m's, early session, Searling, Soul-twins etc. then through m's door, onto top balcony, wait for cleaners (free admission for them, as wages), then into main room, straight into record bar. I went into M's, a few times, on one occasion, I had an invite off the late Chris Savory, to the casino party.
  23. What version was Tim Brown selling, Originals-baby have mercy-7" white label.
  24. A friend of mine and his wife, take roller skating set-up, rink and skates, for hire, up and down the country. If I see him at the car boot, this morning, I will ask him, if he provides northern/soul music as extras.
  25. A lad I know from Crosby, had a copy, while it was played at wigan.
