  4. It's show yer age time folks - the Savage by the Shadows. I've still got it and its still in VG+++ after all these years. Tony
  5. I love the Grapevine 2000 stuff, but have resisted buying too many as I reckon £10 for these reissues is a bit over the top. What do you people think?
  6. The Daisies Coldwave
  7. The Torch was something special, especially to us Southerners making our first tentative steps on the Northern Scene. For us and I expect many others it was also special because the scene was still very much in its infancy, we were all there for one thing, some good gear and to hear some fantastic records. I also like to think that there was no politics and backbiting in those days, but I suspect some people disliked Levine even then!
  8. I think I've got a copy, I'll check tonight Tony
  9. Get well soon mate, all the best for a speedy recovery... Tony Ellis
  10. Great track, but nothing compares to Stumble and Fall, it's magnificent!!! the b side, Quiet Guy, is also F.A.B.
  11. Saw Len Jewell in Kojak once. And Delores Hall is in some daytime detective tosh that plays now and again.
  12. Don't knock Out on the Floor, when I was much much younger and the record was new to the scene, it summed what it was all about. i wouldn't play it out now but it still holds some great memories Tony
  13. Don't remember anything like that, maybe it was all too new then...
  14. How about The Grasshopper by Doris Duke? A great soul singer reduced to singing tosh! There was something about the name "Contempo" that didn't inspire confidence, even though they put out a few good records. Check out Ted Taylor's I wanna be part of you. Its magic!
  15. Agree with this, Billy Joe Young is a great record. I'm sure they played it at the Mecca as well.
  16. I've seen a Topless Tony go for much more than its book price. But its not worth as much as a Bottomless Clarkie.
  17. Alison I've stillgot some lovely photos of several bleary-eyed soulies, many of them topless, lounging on your mum's floor after that particular do. (It was a good night and you well deserved all that profit) Tony Ellis XX
  18. there's a good version by the great Alan Bown Set on London Swings Live At The Marquee.

  21. Good to see a mention of Yate, it was always a good laugh and is fondly remembered by the the people who went there. Adey I've got some good photos if you need them. Tony Ellis
  22. saw Hot Chocolate at Southampton in the 70s supporting Harold Melvin, they were excellent.
  23. What about Jay Walking - the red label logo looks like it was taken from a third generation photocopy. Although it does have a certain primitive charm! (says our art correspondent)
