  1. Have done a bit more sleuthing and the plot thickens. His full name appears to be David Henry Singletary, if writing credits are to be believed. This article also muddies the waters a bit. https://redkelly.blogspot.com/2007/03/j-hines-and-boys-cant-think-of-nothing.html There's also a picture of him as a single artist on Discogs.
  2. Well there you go then, there's no accounting for old age, poverty and confusion, maybe the group had their own american football team.
  3. I think I once read something that said Dynamite Singletary had been a pro American Footballer. However I can't seem to find the article anymore, help !. Maybe I'm getting confused with Mike Singletary, who definitely did have a lot to do with American Football.
  4. Good job you had that in that format, otherwise the dance floor would have been empty. I for one would never dance to anything played on a demo/promo copy
  5. 3 full on 150mph stompers, then when the floor is empty for the rest of the set, you can hide behind the excuse everybody was too knackered to dance.
  6. Why not just play whatever you wanted off the LP.
  7. 3 proper nights per week then That should stop the endless "too many events threads"on here which is a good thing IMHO.
  8. How about this ? https://www.discogs.com/The-Embers-Cool-Me-Out-Fool-In-Love/release/8780662
  9. Nancy Yahiro currently living in Darlington via LA and Italy.
  10. I was thinking along the lines of the button being used to flag things up, for review by someone with the knowledge. Which ought to stop people misusing the function.
  11. No but I've had a pair re-souled.
  12. I love that girl, always been there, always been whatcha see is whatcha get. People like Judy make the scene what it is.
  13. Mad as a badger.
  14. Why dont the relevant people BPI, MCPS or whoever just sponsor an "is this a bootleg button" on the sites that sell them. Even better make it a legal requirement of said sites to feature one. How hard can it be ?.
  15. Cheers, I've had loads of these, all were scroll design, never seen a juke box style copy, hope that helps the OP.
  16. Maybe he is auctioning things for others who have asked for them to be auction items. Let's face it John could probably get a grand for a mint demo of Black Pudding Bertha, obviously in it's birth sleeve.
  17. What do you mean "scroll" design. Larger HMC script or smaller HMC in a shape that looks a bit like the top of a juke box.
  18. Terrible news, especially so soon after Dave Clegg. Boxy was a cornerstone of the scene in West Yorkshire, who, along with Graham Slater, probably kept the scene alive in this area, over countless years. A true gent and top bloke. Too many years and too many good nights to mention, there will be a hole in the scene now he's gone.
  19. It was their first album, and I would consider it both psychedelic & freaky, it was certainly very different at the time. I think Angel Dust played a large part !!!!
  20. It is indeed Funkedelic. https://www.google.co.uk/search?rlz=1C1DSGL_enGB416PT416&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=teLzW6XJKdLmsAex3bioAg&q=funkedelic+1970+images&oq=funkedelic+1970+images&gs_l=img.12...152829.154163..157722...0.0..0.71.278.4......0....1..gws-wiz-img._Z44pcNjDLU#imgrc=4jwOx9YAjWG2mM:
  21. Sad news indeed. One of the true originals and a great lad.
  22. Catalinas anyone ?
  23. It came out twice, 5514 and 5531 with different flips. I may be wrong but aren't they all spelt like that ?, Ooops dived in a bit early, i thought you were on about how "alright" was spelt.
  24. Just been watching this, Mr Nelson claims his favourite female singer on Motown was Gladys Knight, and then they play Midnight Train To Georgia, which came out on Buddah, Do me a favour Trevor stop pretending you were there "back in the day". Then we get some shit that Bob Marley was making/taking references/influences, on Stir It Up, to Parliament/Funkadelic, do me a favour again. Ok there are bits in the progamme which are nice to see but why use Trevor Nelson to present it ?, we on here all know at least 20 others who could have done it better.
  25. I've got an Earl Van Dyke 6x6 that is exactly the same, can't find it listed anywhere, it's like a white/same side both sides demo but on the regular issue label.
