  1. You should know better than to give these kind of openings old boy.
  2. You're just upset because it never happens when you're on Kegsy ( who's name was chanted for an encore by the crowd at one venue I did, I believe you were there that night).
  3. 77 posts so far and nobody, as far as can see, has mentioned Rose Batiste Hit & Run/ I Miss My Baby. I thought this site had people on it who had some idea about Soul Music.
  4. Am I in a parallel universe.
  5. Not referring to your want in particular just the general demand for it lately
  6. Whats the big deal with this at the moment ? had 2 copies for sale for donkeys yonks have now sold both in a week or so.
  7. Don't know but that picture is a classic. Front row Dave Rivers ?, Andy Simpson and Ian Levine. Back row Mick Smith ? (left) buts who's the one on the back right ?
  8. The base colour.
  9. Would you say Labels like Boogaloo and Spectrum , the maroon ones, would be more likely to "setoff" which is why so many of their releases have what looks like ring wear, but all over the label. For the uninitiated "setoff" occurs when one printed sheet sticks to the one above it and causes the print to peel off.
  10. There was once a blind institute trip to Blackpool. Anyway half way there the coach driver stop for a sandwich and a cup of tea. He says to the trip organiser "what are they gonna do", organiser says "have a game of football in the car park" "But they're all blind" says the driver quizzically. Organiser explains "we have a ball with a bell in It". "Oh" says the driver. Ten minutes later a guy rushes into the café in a panic and finds the driver, he tells the driver "he must get rid of those people out there". "Why" says the driver. "They've just kicked seven colours of shit out a morris dancer" says the guy.
  11. Plenty of old faces, one or two chemist burglars too, and that's only the women.

  13. I would suggest because the club was a "mod" place not a Jamaican club/blues/shabeen where, as you say, new releases would have been the order of the day.
  14. To be honest I wouldn't have thought the music policy at the clubs you mention would have been much different from the Wheel, except maybe Plebs due to its longevity and wide variety of acts over its lifespan. Since imports were relatively unheard of until the back end of the Wheel most of the stuff would have been UK releases. Bri Phillips or Roburt, and, a few more on here should be able to steer you in the right direction. A Soul Sounds discography would be a good place to start. Ignore the detractors on here, are Brooks & Jerry or Mel & Tim (Backfield) any more played out than say Eddie Parker I'm Gone or that God awful Kurt Harris ?
  15. About time this got played out. Martha Jean Love - Don't Want You to Leave me - ABC-Paramount
