  1. It depends on you're perception of the northern scene I suppose, many venues with "modern" rooms play new/recent releases. However if "modern" rooms are not considered part of a persons view of the "northern" scene then no I don't. To me its always been about Danceable soul music be it rare or not, good music is good music simple as.
  2. Actually, and I said it earlier, this thread is about the Northern scene as some people perceive or want it to be. Shock horror, but even back in the day, new releases were played and were massive on the scene Archie Bell Here I Go Again, Jimmy James A Man Like Me for example.
  3. I will do that in future, but I ain't changing 100's of listings, I will also watch out when things are ordered and send an appropriate message regarding sleeve.
  4. The problem is discogs ONLY allows one picture of the item. Any subsequent sales listings use the same picture, a seller can't add another picture for the item he actually has for sale, so there is no other way to present it. Also I list items for sale that don't have a picture, but this does not mean somebody can't add a picture later, which would then be shown on the sales listing page. It would be better, not just for sleeves but also writing on labels, stickers etc, if sellers could add their own picture or remove the original one from their sales listings.
  5. Thanks for the photos Derek, I've printed them off and put them on the mantlepiece, at least they will keep the dog away from the fire.
  6. I just "report" the item in cases like that.
  7. I don't have one
  8. I can't believe this, sold a record on discogs, the discogs listing has a picture of said record in a company sleeve, the picture shows against all the copies that are for sale. The buyer has taken the hump because when his record arrived it was not in the company sleeve !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. My list didn't say anything about a company sleeve, ffs what is the world coming to ?. To be honest I didn't even know the label was distributed by the company (Bell) whos sleeve it was supposed to be in.
  9. Oh for God's sake, the scene isn't dying or being killed, how can it be, there are more events now than there ever has been. What people really mean is the scene "as I perceive it to be" isn't as I would like it to be. Get over yourselves, who do you think you are ?, you don't own the scene or set the rules by which it operates, nobody does, not even the so called big name DJs. Go to the events you want to and let others go to the events they want to. Kinnel we had this in the mid 70's with the Wigan/Cleethorpes/Mecca arguments. The scene changes, always has done, always will do.
  10. I remember many on the scene sporting Free Angela Davis badges back in the day.
  11. Didn't somebody also have a stand in dog, or was that somewhere else.
  12. Power exchange was an E.M.I. label, Abbey Road was an E.M.I. studio, so no real surprise there then.
  13. What about this one, oh dear oh dear. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NORTHERN-SOUL-I-CANT-GET-ENOUGH-OF-YOUR-LOVE-JOHNNY-SAYLES-DEMO-SAM-AND-KITTY/291544302485?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D33052%26meid%3Dd588f4af2b584e788c29c91caa0734a9%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D191674741962
  14. The original Eddie Spencer on Arc says it was recorded in Toronto, funny thing is though it has Mike Terry credits too, maybe that's just for the backing track ?. It also credits Tony Di Maria who seems to have been responsible for a lot of other Arc releases, plus some on its sister label Yorkville. Power exchange also released quite a few other things from the same Toronto studio.
  15. Maybe so, but I reckon Mike is right on this one, its about the Power Exchange release, not about it being recorded in London.
  16. There are a lot of Jamaicans in Canada.
  17. Think I'll just vote NO in the E.U. referendum.
  18. VAT is to be charged on seller fees on Discogs, anybody know if this is avoidable .
  19. Well it aint rarity in the case of Timi Yuro and I can't see how its demand in the case of Chapter Five, never cottoned too that record really.
  20. Mint minus U.S. Minit demo copy of this current indemander. £40 inc UK recorded postage. Please P.M. for Paypal details etc.
  21. Never mind Rita Lee, what about the Incredibles, I know its a mint UK demo, but £916 has got to be pretty near a record for something on Stateside. In addition, besides the Darrell Banks issue and the Jimmy Ruffin "what becomes" demo how many other UK (soul) records have sold for more ?. Just had look on popsike an EX Incredibles demo went for £433 in March, and the top price for a Stateside record is £720 for a Hoagy Lands demo.
  22. Both parcels arrived without any stamps/postage, I think I would have noticed if the woman in the post office had not put the stamps on, bit of a melon scratcher.
  23. I posted two separate parcels on the same day, both were just under 100g so they qualified to get a Large letter Stamp, not one of those labels they print and then stick on. The woman behind the counter handled both parcels weighing and sticking stamps on. I have had claims from both recipients saying there wasn't any postage on the parcel and they have had to pay again at the depot/post office. Whats the chances of two stamps falling off ?, is someone at the Royal Mail playing games ?, anybody else had a similar carry on ?.
  24. Ditto, but I'm cheaper than him.
