I really don't know where to start but a mint Nathen Williams on Lime for £60 wasn't my finest hour even if i had only paid $2 for it. After I promised it to the buyer I got endless emails etc. aking if i was mad?, wtf there has ever been much doubt about that.
Hector from Bradford and Myself had a very very similar experience at Va Va's, they called the old bill, net result when the news got round, hardly anybody turned up for the next couple of nighters and I think it closed for nighters very soon after. I told the, pain in the arse, manager this would happen if he rang the old bill, but he just wouldn't have it. Bouncers busting people was just plain wrong IMHO.
Torch/Cats/Early Mecca sound. Hard to say which one first, but if I was forced, I'd say Pep at the Cats, maybe with a little help from the London lads Dave Rivers et al. If not probably Ian at the Mecca.
Chimes would probably be The Chymes on Okeh Bring It Back Home.
Ben Atkins is probably a typo and is actually Ben Aiken Satisfield on Loma
I too am flummoxed by Carroll Lloyd, possible cover up ?, you are probably right about the last two.
Then again, there were a lot of cover ups about in those days so I could be wrong on all counts.
All the Soul Sound "releases ?", were numbered 10xx not just Alexander Patton, they came in 4 colours White, Yellow, Green and Orange, as to why AP should be on two colours, I don't know, but maybe it was just a second run on another colour blank to meet extra demand.
They were bootlegs, it's hardly a secret and neither is who did them, but they all have the a/b side of the original releases, I don't think any had "another labels product" included, "back to back". Maybe a moot point but accuracy is always important.
