  1. One that would get me on the dancefloor: Soul Santa - Funk Machine https://youtu.be/TWa2bkLtfx4
  2. Loads of great old Soulful Xmas tunes. Enough to make a crackin Kent comp imo. Here's a real beauty to start with Betty Lloyd - Snowflakes https://youtu.be/_XITrkB6ZjM
  3. The 'double dee' tune was a big club/rave anthem early 90's. Think its a italian release, wouldnt have classed it as a soul record but seen it go for £15 - £20 which is not bad because you would have trouble giving a lot of those old dance/house tunes away!

  8. Anyone got any info on this? value etc? Also, has it ever been on any cd comps? Thanks.
  9. Really enjoyed the show on sunday morning. Some great tunes played Good to hear the Jackons 'Even though you're gone' and Almeta Latimore gets me every time. Cheers guys.
  10. Cheers Seb, some great tunes there as usual. Some i've not heard before, some long forgotten, and some i've not heard for ages! Great stuff.
  11. Someday - Ce Ce Rodgers. classic tune but over 20 years old now. There is always good soulful house stuff out there, but not so easy to hear it out. The 'Soul Heaven' nights are worth checking out, along with any night 'Bobby and Steve' are at, but to be honest, its a lot easier to find a local soul night than a decent Soulful House night. A ideal niter for me would be quality rare up-tempo Northern in one room/Modern and Soulful house in the other. Unfortunatly i don't know of anywhere like this at the moment! Anyone know different?
  12. Chatting to other soulies went I'm out and about, who are around the same age group as me (late 30's, early 40's) it dosen't seem like I'm the only one who moved from the soul scene of the mid-80's to the rave scene (and still attending the very occasional soul niter) and then back on the soul scene. I've often wondered how some memorable nights at clubs like the hacienda/schoom/zap and the sunrise, helter skelter nights compared to wigan, torch, mecca etc. The two scenes were basically about young people, getting off their heads and dancing the night away to great dance music. Is there anyone on here who did wigan in its peak and also did the raves as well? How did the two compare? I'd love to know how many on here are also old ravers (and i don't mean getting off your face at a niter now!!) but did the raves back in the day and now are totally into the soul scene. Although, music wise, the rave scene dosen't come anywhere near, there were some brilliant soul records that got me into it. Off the top of my head, for instance; someday - ce ce rogers reachin - phase 2 promised land - joe smooth useless - kym mazelle right back to you - ten city and loads more if i think about it long enough. So, any old ravers out there who would like to compare the two scenes?
  13. Great stuff. A really good cross-secton, right up my street! I've downloaded it on to a cd, and played it twice today, both times all the way through, from start to finish. Loving the Frank Eddie and Kings Go Forth, especially Thanks
  14. I've been waiting ages for the Baby Charles album, i think its now finally out. My favourite newie though is 'Hello its me' - Mary J Blige, off the new 'Growing Pains' release. Awesome tune, which would fit in perfectly with todays scene.
