Roy Cortez Butler - A Dream On Red Label Boo
Nick Soule replied to Nick Soule's topic in Record Wants
Both label variations of Roy Cortez Butler and the yellow labeled Brothers Of Soul are probably the toughest, yeah. I have the vinyl version of RCB, just need the styrene... -

Maybe a long shot, but I have: The Del-Tours - Sweet And Lovely b/w Blind Girl (Starville) strong VG -very conservative grading, record has light marks/sleeve scuffing only and plays perfectly, but it does have a light dish warp to it that DNAP- The Del-tours2 (Starville).mp3 Preferably looking to trade for a copy of The Salvadors on Wise World. Would consider rare Detroit records of similar value (i.e. Gwen Owens, Lester Tipton, Al Williams). Not interested in a cash sale. Thanks, Nick

Were these two tracks known about before? In the interview that Bob Abrahamian did (with the last living member?) a few years ago it was said that they only recorded 4 songs and then left Chicago. Two songs being released and the other two are on the acetates that are mentioned in the article.
-
Surprising to see the Al Williams that the same seller had only go $200 more than the Masqueraders record.

It's nice to be on the "I already have that" side versus the 10th highest bidder that can't believe how much it went for side for once. I feel like there were a few on here in the last couple of years for £800.

There's a Soul Toranodoes record on Burt that also came out on Magic City. I think that Burt label is from Nashville.

Looking for info on any additional Magic City Records subsidiaries. So far I have: Mello 001 - Jay Davis - Look At What I Found b/w What Words Do I Use Sock-It 001/002 - Steve Smith & The Soul Champions - Ugly Faced Woman b/w part 2 Sock-It 003/004 - The Harmonics - Scum-A-Doom Doom (In The Ghetto) b/w Be Your Man (Ohio group, also released on Seventy Seven, and the funk side received another release on Gold Plate) Is there anything else?

I noticed just yesterday that there are some of the plain yellow label versions that don't have "Dimensional Sound" on them. So that makes 4 label variations? Stars and Stripes demo, Stars and Stripes issue, Plain without Dimensional Sound, and Plain with. While trying to research I found someone quoting Joe Moorehouse about the stars and stripes variation. "Major Reynolds, who owned Tri-Sound, told me that the cross-and-stars design on Ed Crook is a pirate copy. After the record became a hit locally, someone (he didn't know who, I don't think) had additional copies pressed up without Major's permission and sold them without his knowledge. Interestingly, this sort of thing apparently happened pretty often, or at least a lot of old musicians and label owners claim it did."

Price reduced from $500 to $400.

Dusty Groove in Chicago had a decent one for $150. Check their site.

Kind of makes you think about selling everything, taking a nice vacation, and then buying it all back again in 10 years when 45s are out of vogue and everyone has moved onto LP-only boogie cuts.

There's one on collectorsfrenzy with an identical label from a seller with a lot of feedback. I've never seen one on styrene, though. https://www.collectorsfrenzy.com/details/221036306690/AMBASSADORS_Aint_Got_Love_Of_One_Girl_45_Rare_Arctic_Northern_Soul_NM_Orig
