When the Don Davis estate was being sold off around Detroit a couple of years ago, the record shop I used to work at got the tape for the Gwen Owens version of "Hit & Run" among other things. I don't know what happened to this tape, but I did get to hear it and I believe one of the takes is the same as Gilly's acetate.

Falcons '(I'm a fool) I must love you' promo ?
Nick Soule replied to Tlscapital's topic in Look At Your Box
I’m pretty sure “Standing On Guard” was the only Falcons release on Big Wheel to get a white label promo. I do have this, but it doesn’t really count: -
Looking for a clean copy of: Mike Power - I Left My Love In Paris / Teenage Sweetheart on Zelman Records Looks like a clean copy went through eBay in 2013 for $40 - I would pay considerably more than that. I also have a rough-but-playable copy that I would throw-in if you still want to have a copy to play. Please PM or email nickgsoule@gmail.com if you can help. Thanks for looking.

Belita Woods - Magic Corner - wrongly credited ?
Nick Soule replied to Blackpoolsoul's topic in Look At Your Box
Stax is from Memphis not Atlanta and Ollie had a distribution deal with Atlantic/Atco well before ‘67. Here’s a video of Belita Woods talking a little bit about “Magic Corner”: She states that the record came out in ‘69. She gets some other information wildly wrong like saying that Motown hadn’t taken off/got big yet by 1969 though, so who knows. The claim about the writing credits could be correct, but I still firmly believe that the record only came out in 1969 and that the Karen copies are mispresses - that’s why they carry the Moira catalog number instead a normal Karen number, and that’s why they’re so rare. Also, the label style on the Karen version of “Magic Corner” match up with the labels on Betty Lavette’s “Ticket To The Moon” which was also released in 1969. -
Belita Woods - Magic Corner - wrongly credited ?
Nick Soule replied to Blackpoolsoul's topic in Look At Your Box
The record was released in 1969, if you're looking at the release years on Discogs, those are incorrect. The Karen copies are mispresses with the Karen label used instead of the Moira - look at the release number, M-106 is used on both pressings but is consistent with the Moira cataloging system. As for writing credits, I don't have any helpful info to who may not have been included, but the credits are the same on both Karen and Moira issues and promos. Also, the name of the song is "Magic Corner" not "Magic Garden". -
Would love to have seen the dance routine they would do if they ever performed this one live.

Early Tamla, Motown & Gordy 'DR' handwriting on label

“Don’t Return” They would give leftover stock of older Motown records away at Motortown Revue shows, and would mark them so that they couldn’t be returned to distributors/Motown. -
Yes. Here’s a link to the Discogs listing I created for it (both label scans and matrix info are on there): https://www.discogs.com/LaBrenda-Ben-The-Vandellas-The-Chaperone-Camel-Walk/release/14258187

I have a white label promo of LaBrenda Ben on Motown 1033. It’s real. Looking for an upgrade or a stock copy. The scan you have doesn’t look quite right, but there’s one in the Simon Soussan price guide that does.

Some of the early promos were credited to The Majestics, the group’s original name - that’s what I’m looking for.
-
Please PM or email nickgsoule@gmail.com if you can help. Looking for: The Majestics - Say You (V.I.P. 25028) Labrenda Ben - The Chaperone (Motown 1033) The Supremes - I Want A Guy (Motown 1008) Chris Clark - Love’s Gone MAD (V.I.P. 25028)

Does a stock or promo of Leon Ware - Comfort b/w Share Your Love exist on either Motown or Gordy? I have an RCA Hollywood test pressing of this, but it seems like that's as far as it got aside from the LP release. Gordy seems to be mentioned most often with this record, and the LP came out on Gordy, but the catalog number on the test pressing refers to Motown M 1368F instead of Gordy 7148. Is there any story as to why this was not released? Thanks
-
This is correct. Looking for a clean copy of either.
-
Looking for a M/NM copy of: Marv Johnson - Come To Me (Tamla) I've had multiple "clean" copies of this that all seem to have the same dullness/sleeve contact marks to the vinyl. Looking for a clean, glossy, like-new copy. Thanks!
-
Looking for a clean copy of Bottom & Company - Gonna Find A True Love on Motown. Thanks, Nick

There are definitely test pressings for the same record from different plants. Probably the easiest to find is “Never Can Say Goodbye” by the Jackson 5. The ARP vinyl pressings have a sticker on the label where handwritten info would go. The styrene pressings from Monarch have handwritten info.

Please PM if you can help. Looking for: The Supremes - I Want A Guy (Motown 1008)

Please PM if you can help. Looking for a clean copy of: Sweet James Epps - Love At First Sight (Motorpool) Thanks!

They had a group in the 80s called Detroyt that released an album and a couple of singles on Tabu, and another called the Boone Bros that released on Atlantic.

(Actually) Rare Detroit 45s: Gwen Owens, Four Voices, etc.
Nick Soule posted a topic in Record Sales
Payment via PayPal only - either as a gift/friends & family or add the 4%. Shipping in the US is $4 and $14 to anywhere else - faster shipping methods available as well. Grading is conservative. For sale: Gwen Owens - Just Say You're Wanted (And Needed) (Velgo) VG-/G+ $4,500 SOLD - Guaranteed original with SI-C10003A SOUND INC. in dead wax. This copy plays WITHOUT the skip. The copy that CarolinaSoul recently auctioned was my spare, and I can say that this one definitely looks and plays cleaner. Lots of scuffing, but no real heavy marks. Sounds amazing when played out - The Four Voices - Your Love Is Getting Stronger (Voice) Strong VG $2,800 SOLD - Original copy. Light paper sleeve scuffing only, no heavy marks whatsoever, plays clean on both sides. Labels have very faint ring wear, but still look incredible - Lonnett - Blue Jeans (M-S) VG/VG+ $1,600 SOLD - Despite the rubbing on the labels, this is actually a pretty nice copy, only has some light marks and both sides play clean - The Precisions - I Wanna Tell My Baby (D-Town) Strong VG $1,500 ON HOLD - The cleanest copy I've ever found, very close to VG+, glossy with light marks only, pen on a-side label - The Terrifics - Leave Us Alone (Diamond Jim, DJ copy) VG- $1,100 SOLD - Light marks, plays well. Stain on a-side label - The Tempos - I'll Never Forget (Diamond Jim, DJ copy) VG/VG- $1,000 SOLD - Light marks, nothing feelable, plays well. Small stain and stamp on a-side label - Burning Desire - Why She Had To Go (Charisma Sound) VG/VG- $850 SOLD - Mainly light marks, both sides play well with some light background noise - Dena Barnes - If You Ever Walk Out Of My Life (Inferno, DJ copy) VG+ $700 SOLD - clean copy, glossy playing surface, great sound, only real flaw is some wear to the label around the spindle hole on the a-side and two X's drawn in pen on the b-side - Tony Clarke - (They Call Me) A Wrong Man (M-S) VG/VG- $450 SOLD - A fair amount of scuffing, but no heavy marks, both sides play clean --

Jesse Thomas on both sides.
