  1. Here's a couple. one's deffo not real but should be, the other I'm not quite sure "You Broke My Heart, So I busted your Jaw" "Why can't you See I love You (Coz it's sticking out a mile)" Tony
  2. Surely this is an impossible ask, as in some quarters Soul officially died on 31st December 1969 oh and 4th May 1956 in case anyone's interested. Tony
  3. First Friday every month. Regular as clockwork Tony
  4. Been playing this for some time now. Was told it was an old Stafford tune Tony
  5. Yes it is difficult in a one roomer to keep everbody happy, although I agree that just because the dancefloor isn't full doesn't mean people aren't enjoying it, however you will still find that a full dancefloor still equals a "good" night in your average punter's( hate that term BTW) eyes. We try to mix it up a bit by spinning a few lesser knowns, underplayed etc. but you do have to fill the floor sometimes, which is why, to pick up on an earlier thead, we give the primetime spot's to the guests, which as I've said before, is why they were booked in the first place. ATB Tony
  6. So do I Tony
  7. Thought the Northern Soul Scene WAS a Rare Soul Scene. Or is that just me?????? Tony
  8. Unfortunately in quite a lot of places around here (North Manchester-ish) -NOT I hasten to add the "bigger" events. In what you might call local nights. Tony
  9. First up, I don't class myself as a collector,if I like a record ,and can afford the original, I buy it. If not, oh well something always turns up. Second, I ain't a promoter, i just give Ste a hand with the plugging and flyering( )-having a big gob is handy. Third, when Steve books guest DJ's he does it fully expecting them to play stuff none of us others would have. That's the whole point isn't it? So, I can tell you that none of the three regulars at Heywood would ever play a pressing, it would be nothing short of an insult to whoever is expected to follow you. I have to say though that my biggest bugbear at the mo' is those individuals that have a fifty box of all the latest boots, pressings or whatever you call 'em, and think that they are great dj's cos they can fill a dance floor. Ho Hum. Tony
  10. When we were very young a mate of mine actually did that with the Lord Sitar LP. But he used a red hot stanley knife and a turntable at 78rpm ATB Tony
  11. Oh Bugger. That's me told innit "Believe half of what you see, And none of what you hear" Lonely Town --3 Degrees ???? Yours Very Contritely Tony
  12. Yep, used to get them from Underground Market in Manchester, about '77 ish, but only cos by then you couldn't get yer actual Timpson Royales, or PC's or Loafers. ATB Tony
  13. No problem at all with Lp only tracks, some brilliant Motown stuff as mentioned on here many times. And how else are you gonna get to play the Fantastic Spyder Turner-I'm Alive with a lovin' Feeling ??? ATB Tony
  14. Good grief, that was at one of MJC's do's, a looooong time ago. Nearly forgot about that. Tony
  15. I was told that Mr.Shy was originally thought to be rather rare, but then turned up in numbers and price plummetted. Any truth in that? Tony
  16. I can remember being offered it once or twice on the way home, but never took up the offer as I thought it might turn me into one those "druggies". Far more healthy to stick with the output of SK&F and Riker. ATB Tony
  17. Just in case any one cares, Radio Manchester will be doing a feature on this on Sunday Night, whether it's a broadcast a la ASADAN ain't clear. Might give a listen out of morbid curiosity. Any road, just thought I'd throw it in the pot and see who p*sses on it. tony

  24. "I've got plenty of time, So keep me in mind" If I can, I will. It's definitely something I've had talks with Steve about. ATB Tony
  25. I have often thought that there would be a good night to be had at a purely Motown Night playing mainly 60's Motown covering the whole range from the likes of Where Did Our Love Go through to the (perhaps) lesser known LP tracks, on the other thread, maybe a coupla times a year. Blimey, I could take the wife Tony
