I Wasn't Defending Bootlegs
I don't think the argument was essentially anti oldies or anti bootlegs. Without the oldies there would not be a scene. bootlegs- fine for your own use. However, the whole point about this scene used to be to listen to, dance to etc RARE, as in not widely known, soul music You had to travel, usualy, to find the Clubs that had the tunes. Nowadays, with a night starting every week, any one with a 50 box of pressings can be a superstar and play a 'brilliant' set, chances are that you'll find something at the end of your street, so travelling not required. Ah well, Tony

Soul Night Disgrace
Blimey, all gone a bit sideways this hasn't it. I think it boils down to. If you want to listen to the Northern soul Top 500 (or 200) and you ain't bothered in what format, put on your baggies and vest and go and do the do. If you want to hear original vinyl, go somewhere else that plays it. Or have i got it wrong??? Tony
