  1. I don't think the argument was essentially anti oldies or anti bootlegs. Without the oldies there would not be a scene. bootlegs- fine for your own use. However, the whole point about this scene used to be to listen to, dance to etc RARE, as in not widely known, soul music You had to travel,usualy, to find the Clubs that had the tunes. Nowadays,with a night starting every week, any one with a 50 box of pressings can be a superstar and play a 'brilliant' set, chances are that you'll find something at the end of your street, so travelling not required. Deep pockets not required. An ear,a feel and a passion is sometimes handy though. ATB Tony

  4. Blimey, all gone a bit sideways this hasn't it. I think it boils down to. If you want to listen to the Northern soul Top 500 (or 200) and you ain't bothered in what format, put on your baggies and vest and go and do the do. If you want to hear original vinyl, go somewhere else that plays it. Or have i got it wrong??? Tony

  19. There's a couple Heywood way- about 2 miles The Albany or The Birch I think there's a Travel Lodge at Birch Services There's a Travel Lodge at Pilsworths- off M66 and the Village off the M66 nearer to Bury about 4 to 5 miles off. Can't think of much in Middleton itself. ATB Tony
