  17. Hi Pete although the documentary was on the beeb I'm pretty sure that the original footage came from Granada, who did a few "blues" specials in that period, probably overseen by Johnny Hamp ( of Comedians Fame) who seemed to lead the way with that sort of thing. One of the first Beatles TV appearances, Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters etc.-bit out of the ordinary for a "parochial" TV company. And yes -it probably was by invitation only-Left Wing Cafe or Brasenose Street Wheel types? Tony
  18. Can't get the youtube link at work-presume it's the Sister Rosetta tharp do. So, no- I'm a bit young But saw the documentary on the Beeb ( I think) which showed the footage from that concert -very early 60's if memory serves. ATB tony

  20. Re the dragonette T Shirts & Vests mentioned earlier There's the vest There's the Pinball Machine the design was taken from-which was ( I'm almost sure) inspired by a 50's comedy record St. George and The Dragonette-spoofing Dragnet.-Just the Facts Ma'am. Anyway, can't see them being revived any time soon Tony

  23. Yep, now I think about it there was one on Fennel Street, same side as Pips( or if you're of a certain vintage Nice N Easy/Time & Place). I think though that was opened toward back end '70s or early '80s, and I think i'm right in saying it was either a branch of Rare Records or they moved there from John Dalton Street. Also Robinsons on Blackfriars Bridge, ATB Tony
  24. It's on Sophisticated Soul LP, not sure if it's the version in question though. Tony
