  1. Same as that, but unfortunately, like a lot of things, some took it too far
  2. 3 or 4 of us, yeah. I wasn't there after 78
  3. I have said a million times that by and large baggies were the current fashion of the day, can't but an exact date on it, but 76/77 a lot of the Manchester lads went back to straight legs levis, loafers and fred perrys, very retro
  4. When we/I first started you were treated with caution until you'd been seen around a bit and tried to find out what was going on.. people soon suss if you are really into it or not.. When I came back in the early nineties I soon realised that I had missed a helluva lot, but didn't go around DEMANDING to hear Richard Searlings playlist from 1977.
  5. Surely it depends on the attitude of "the new blood" , if they come to take the p*ss or are not prepared to listen to something that wasn't played before they fell asleep on the night they went, what do you think.?? You gotta give respect to earn respect, we all learned somewhere and (mostly) kept our traps shut while we were doing it.
  6. Jeez, I 've just realised I've been reading it all wrong KTF, thought it was Keep The Faith, however, judging by the amount of Anniversary do's on it now means Kop The Fiver...
  7. you can, of course, only speak for yourself...
  8. Did anybody actually say it, without sounding a complete canute?? only ever saw it written down-Dave Godin of course. "Right On" "Keep the Faith, brother" makes much more sense coming from a Black Panther activist than from the gob of a spotty 17 year old yoof from the backstreets of Salford
  9. Only one problem with that.... These days she wouldn't look out of place
  10. Gave it a 3, At least it was presented by somebody who had an association with the music, could have done with it being a bit longer and talking about what happened since, good trailer for the film I guess. Not a bad effort..
  11. Yep, pitched a fair bit down, after checking the stamps
  12. Can we have a reunion for people that actually went (more than once or twice) and stayed awake ALL NIGHT... . Stuff the music can we have OSO-original substances only ??
  13. Eddie Foster pressing of Dee Dah Do is speeded up a bit, innit ? Metros- Time Changes Things, I think sounds better about +2. And Terrible Tom at + 4 should fill a few Coronary Wards
  14. I was thinking more of influencing what the early "Beat" groups could hear and pick up rather than mass importation of vinyl

Another night of Motown and Classic Soul for your delight
  16. You know that it is all fracked when a guy posts his playlist on here and gets lambasted for having the audacity to point out that he was playing originals...
  17. If the seamen tales are being dismissed a bit, what about any influence from the US Airbases, was a big one at Burtonwood.. would these fellas be taking their sounds to local dancehalls etc. ???

  19. Great to see a shout for Paul Williams, vastly underrated and criminally under used.. for myself.... Changes by the minute.....

  21. True, otherwise how you gonna learn ?? Makes a change from Yeah had it , gave it away...
  22. And of course there's Curtis Mayfield with " Back In The World" and very spurious soul link would be Tom Clay-"The Victors"
  23. By memory they were completely free nominations in the boxes provided for each category. Depending on how many actually voted, must have been quite a task to compile.
