  1. The 60;s Disco bit made me laugh when I first saw it. Now it looks like a Documentary...
  2. Same as that, could have fell over when I realised.. think there's one with Stokesy on that's similar
  3. Another good 'un one Ike & Tina Album " Such a Fool For You"
  4. Spot on, when did all these divisions start to appear ?? R&B, crossover, funky, gospel ???? I know I've said it before, but we select whatever fits from the broad church of Soul, they get played, if they work they become a Northern Soul Sound, at least I think that's how it worked
  5. Hmm, swap Brucie for the Divine Richard, swap the venue from BBC to Blackpool Tower and we might be getting somewhere.. Who gives a fat f*ck how anybody dances so long as their enjoying it.
  6. Kop The Filon, We'll live with that
  7. Just out of interest, what were the odd 3 or 4. I do know what you're saying, even if people are not dancing to 'em, you can tell if they're hearing it. Once again I have to wonder if some of the people actually like the music or are just on a social. I don't normally say this but... Keep Your Faith.
  8. Carts lad, get yourself out more....
  9. Don't think I have ever heard it played out... it's definitely of that ilk.. And I've got one, can't remember why I bought it, must have sort of felt right Ivor Nexcuse
  10. Surely not Grant Yours Truly Ivor Nalibi
  11. Actually Carms, there was something along a similar line round here, well Oldham way to be precise.. Back room of a boozer, decks set up, turn up stick yer name on a list to play a few for twenty minutes or so, discuss, dance swap buy sell have a beer or two.....quite enjoyable... Unfortunately fell apart.
  12. To me, others may disagree, he was The Voice of Motown, instantly recognisable. Some of my Favourites Where Did You Go Do What You Gotta Do Reach Out, I'll Be There ( if this was rare--how much ??) Standing In The Shadows Something About You. That'll do for a start.
  13. Oh , I see, not the greatest Chris Farlowe fan so was unaware.
  14. Not sure I understand. I would have won the bet though..
  15. If I was a betting man, I'd go for "Out Of Time " but you never know,
  16. Who cares, really?? From my angle I have always said that you don't get into it..IT gets into you.. I didn't go looking for a Cool, Underground Scene to belong to, after hearing all the classic (well a lot) motown, stax etc. at the youth clubs and having to suffer interminable shite in any given "disco" in between hearing the odd Soul tune, saw adverts in Blues and Soul for clubs saying they played exclusively Soul. Okey dokey, we'll give that a go....... walked in the first night..... complete Damascus moment. So, grabbed by the throat in 1972 and never looked back.. Yes, had a few years away marriage and kids and all that, but the MUSIC never leaves you, dipped the toe back in and heard stuff I hadn't heard before..brilliant.. I still go out , in the hope of hearing something I don't know. If I can come away from a night thinking Wow, gotta get me one of them, then I've had a good night. I understand that I am probably in the minority.
  17. Indeed there are... until they are delivered to the buyers...
  18. Green and Pleasant Land.......My A*re You Ok Bud ??
  19. oh, and Mitty Collier-My Party
  20. Hi Pete, I was injecting a little irony. The scene today, such as it is, is far more open than it was when I first started. It could be a very scarey and intimidating place to be, until you had proved yourself.
  21. Actually, perhaps the time has arrived for us to return to ethics and morals of the early '70s scene. A time when any newcomer or unknown face turned up they were welcomed with the 1000 yard stare, and were lucky to go home in the clothes they stood up in....
  22. I concur.. We are all guilty of judging the book by it's cover, and I've seen the odd time when some of the uniformed faithful arrive and thinking "Whoops, they're not going to enjoy this" and being pleasantly surprised.... I have also seen the opposite...play summat we know..wade in the water ..anything......
  23. I am sure that many would be welcome at the "rarer" nights, but, would they be prepared to accept something different from their imprinted soundtrack.??
  24. I am very very sorry, but I can't resist..... Ahem, I see they have Loo Rolls on there
