  1. bollox again :-( RIP and thanks for the music...
  2. Well...there are sooooo many things, too many to mention, David. But let's just start with it being all about me
  3. Ah...yes, but no but yes, David could you not say that is the First release of that take....
  4. my guess = £50
  5. 'reactivated' Dave? was it ever there to reactivate in the first place? if ya know what i mean?
  6. the one i bought off you was an issue Tony, at that point i had seen more demos and was going to keep that issue, but i kept my demo as i rather like the blue Decca's. prob seen about the same of each now. i can't remeber the b-side, must play it again....
  7. One loses track of time...and i guess i have had it 6 years and i still class that as recent...and as Sean says it has been around for a long time. still, a great record and one that is still refreshing to hear played out. And to tie this thread up nicely, we gave John Nightingale his copy for his birthday a few years ago, which i bought off Mr Prophonics himself
  8. revival? - it hasn't had it's day yet has it? or did it?
  9. One of THE Greatest voices of all time. RIP
  10. i think you are right Marc; others will maybe surface, but it will be like the Parliaments and the ilk - still a very rare record imo that won't surface in any great numbers
  11. I blame the parents for calling him Screamin' in the first place; just what were they thinking?
  12. HOW DOES HIS SALES MAG ARRIVE WITHUOT EVEN A CREASE - LET ALONE RIPP[ED AND TORN... THE ONLY CONCLUSION THAT I CAN COME TO IS THAT HE HAND DELIVERS EACH MAGAZINE PERSONALLY - WHICH IS PROBABLY THE REASON THAT SOME RECORDS LEAVE HIM LATE; YOU CAN'T EXPECT THE MAN TO BE EVERWHERE!
  13. the other is listed on his site...isn't it?? (but not available to buy)
  14. yes, me and Matt need to know???
  15. Phil - anything from £75 to £100 imo...
  16. that would be nice...try living on the south coast..I live round the corner from Russ Vickers, 5 miles from Steve C and we all love to do the 550mile round trip to Burnley you guys never had it so good
  17. And I said 'No' ...cos you have to share it with the members of the club and anyone with a boat parked out back....
  18. They do a great buffet!! i went a funeral wake there last year and we had our works 10th anniversary there in March
  19. doubt it. I can only remember one other recently (of course i don't go looking, so there may be lots more)... and that was from Shifty that he put on Ebay about 6 or 7 years ago. Not in such good condition as this one and it went for about $6k - a sort of 45 record, record, at the time on Ebay...so in the scheme of things - it hasn't risen in price much.....
  20. Nah, Gawd bless ya; I had already thought of that.... the CD will have a transmitter in it and when anyone tries to copy it, it will send a signal out (just like in Lethal Weapon 4) and then The Boys will come scretching round the corner in a blacked out Ford Transit (just like in Lethal Weapon 4) and torch the gaff (just like in Lethal Weapon 4). if JM can't reach to getting high explosives, flame throwers etc. Then i will go round and stick dog pooh through the culprits letter box. They wont be copying no CD's again after that, i can tell ya.
  21. have you thought about the book on CD in a database format so that any type of search and order can be carried out?
  22. i think TimW was making a general statement of the practise of the time of pseudonyms; i think it would be probalby Okeh, (in which case that is why the Verve track came out as Yates as he was signed to Okeh).
  23. Different group Sean. This is the only 45 this T&theD group released and i think the only release on the Swing label as label owner Bob McRee would often use different artist names and lable names as Tim Whitsett explained to me... ".....Even sadder, Cliff told me Bob had stored all their masters and tapes in an unairconditioned storehouse, in which the temperature soared well over 150 degrees during the summer, rendering all their years of work a useless glob of melted plastic. (This may be the reason Bob has disappeared from view. Wouldn't you?) I seem to remember (but perhaps not accurately) that they used pseudonyms at times when an artist was still tied to a label under a deal they'd made previously, and they wanted to make a deal with another label. Examples: Dottie Cambridge on MGM (aka Dorothy Moore), and Tommy Yates (Tommy Tate) on Verve. Parenthetically, indie producers in those days focused on making "records," not building artist careers. Deals made with majors were always for singles. If the single hit, there would be options for follow-up singles and an album. If the single flopped, that was the end of that. Pre-1967 or '68, albums were an afterthought; hit singles were the be-all end-all."
  24. !!! a dream situation IMO!! both superb records and both i would dearly love to have - and both i guess 'newies'. i think the instananiance appeal of Madge Liccle may win over the superbness of Tommy - i don't know...3 or 4 Madges' to 5 or 6 Tommy's - i think both own the right to be up there with the best; but i think i would go for Tommy for the quality...
