  1. I agree that Central Park ids good, very good in fact; but not better than 'Never Learned' IMO - it reminds me of 'Ordinary Joe' which aint no bad thing
  2. well...it 'says' Al Green on the label i just stuck on it
  3. thing is Bob that some people over here will pay a ridiculous amount for a carver esp. if they have a proper label scan stuck to it too (unlike this one; pity the fool)
  4. Yes mate....that Al Green is the dogs; it's got me hooked, loving it
  5. it's just like the one i explained earlier mate, black silver writing sable shield - use your imagination you wouldn't need a scan LOL
  6. i agree with everyone; even those disagreeing with each other i agree with... :-) but i will say that this record is not your, (heard at) mainstream soul nite record and is in the hands of only a (lucky!) few...The buyer knew what he was getting IMO (you dont spend that much without at least minimal research!!); and afterall someone did pay £400 for a carver of Tommy & The Derbys when it was covered up (mind you they got scans of the label too so gotta be woth that bit more LOL)
  7. discog -dunno if its complete THE TIARAS 'Where Does All The Time Go / All I Ever Need Is You '(Barry 3491) 1968 'Foolish Girl / Surprise '(Op-Art 1003) 1969 'Lost Girl / Right On '(New Music 101) 1969
  8. Yes it is as good - the other side is the Belitta Woods cover up Ady
  9. I've got some interesting, albeit brief, stuff on this from Tim Whitsett; i must collate it all and post it up.
  10. lots of 'action' on this lately...and 'Steal It' is the side IMO... gotta agreee with Phil though on the evaluation - not rare and not gonna set the world on fire....all IMO of course
  11. interestingly it came out twice same label, same number but the other under the artist of "Shine" which was his nick name. nice record but never a 'Big Spin' imo can't think of any big spins really except Two Plus Two Parliaments Salt & Pepper Tommy & Derbys Just Like the Weather acetate Don't Bring Back Memories acetate Willie Tee - Great but not super great Edith Brown
  12. if the DJ was my best friend then i would tell him. but i have respect for any one who gets up there and DJs and if i don't like something then that is down to my personal taste and i dont want to go on a public forum and diss a couple of records i don't like - when most of the people on here (SS) wont have heard the records, or more importantly, the rest of the (good) set and then make an opinion on the DJ and the set just because i don't like a couple of the records...
  13. no, i won't say who it was on here Steve, i will tell you when i see you next... And yes lots of superb unreleased stuff...
  14. yes; and this is not particularly that good at all. i was at a niter recently when some DJ played 2 unreleased acetates, claiming they were the dogs and they were F**king awful. no need for it IMO.
  15. i think it depends where you go surely? i have heard the Mello Souls more than those listed here (no not tired of it). and some people want to hear the same stuff - i was in a 'rare' room at a niter recently went downstairs to the 'big' room where 'Jeanette' was just finishing and loads of people clapped - it that sort of encouragment that needs stamping out!! I agree on Ruby Andrews - a great soul record that for me i NEVER EVER want to hear again; the NS scene has 'killed' it.
  16. excellent stuff; well done andy, can't wait for more!
  17. PML; got to be the funniest post on here for ages...!!
  18. now see...when you say Don Gardner...we all get a bit excited oh well lol
  19. DIFFERENT BAND; THE MAJESTICS ON LINDA INCLUDED MEMBERS DAVID AND RUBEN AND ART ROBLES - THEY WERE RELATED BROTHERS/COUSINS
