  1. too late - i already sold my soul and that wasn't enough - 2 known copies(?) and one unkown (?) and an acetate(?) makes it very rare...and what a facking tune - rare than Eddie Parker etc. so i wouldnt be surprised at $6K plus+++
  2. Haha - Hi Lenny; hope you are good my friend (Cleggy??) - Dave Welding is the man with the plan on this one - i think only 100 were ever made to start with - i am sure when he sees this he will come on...
  3. notr for many years LOL - still if one has one for sale - i wil pay that much. Yes!
  4. two of them flush?
  5. it looks so unlike the original
  6. ...it can't be surerly, Ian...his version is so bad it hurts
  7. i just assumed... i always though it was Rita & Tiaras - who came along with that one?
  8. i beleive Gingers came from Tim Brown - I think it was an acetate and just to confuse things Ginger palyed it out as by "The Fabulous Shalimars"
  9. I think any one who gets up and Dj's is ego driven, Adam...but i disagree on this - I and others like me spend hours trying to find new sounds - quite often I take a punt after listening to a 30 second sound clip hoping that the rest of the record is as good - sometimes they are, likewise, sometimes they turn out to be crap - obviously I am talking $20ish type records, so individually not a huge monetary risk, but that all adds up. I will also do my searching after finding it on places like Soul Source (which is a great tool for such things) and Google etc.. to see if it is known - sometimes if it is and being played I wont even buy it and move on. If it's not known i may well Cover Up the record. Thats gives more time to find out about it, try to buy another depending on the condition of the one i get AND of course get some exclusivity out DJing with it - which i think after the time spent and the money risked is my right to do so... there are far too many lazy DJs out there who dont do all the background work, don't risk money but are happy to buy what they hear others play - well F**k 'em.
  10. correct, Marc i have deiced to stop using 'proper' artist/band names - my Al Green doesn't sound like Al Green; my Esquires doesnt sound any thing like the Esquires...niether does the Blade Family but that is work in progress and not played out yet so time to change the name before i do...probably to 'Reckless Vickers and the Baghdad Bombers'
  11. wait until you hear "The Free Church of East Illonois", "Rufus Stone & The New Foresters" and "The Blade Family" mate - you will pooh your pants - i wont even mention the other one becuase i am afraid you will spontaneously combust. i agree with every one who agrees - Cover-Ups are great no matter how common or rare :-)
  12. sure this is/was a Johnny/Des spin - whatever a nice track
  13. probably right Chalky - but why do these DJ's take those records out with them???...perhaprs; maybe some sort of 'comfort balnket' type thing.
  14. oh well,i could've sworn i read that somewhere, maybe wishfull thinking by someone (I've only got one Chico & Buddy 45 and that's on the New York Tayster label) beginning to think Damn Sam is just a figment of my imagination and i'll wake up in a minute...
  15. I think he restarted the numbering for when Tayster came out of Detroitt
  16. Ady, I think this is one of the first things that he did with Jack Taylor after he moved to Detroit in the late 60s...
  17. They are not dated - I beleive it was 1970
  18. Though I would pass this on - just had a message, via Youtube that the lead singer and co-writer of "Don't Forget to Remember" passed away last week. RIP Jerry These are the message FYI. Dave, Thank you so much. Yes, I would love for you to post the other single. That would be wonderful. I don't know anything about those guys. I could probably find out. I happened upon a Facebook page last night called "Roanoke Valley Bands of the 60's & 70's". There are tons of pictures on there. There are some of the same bands that Jerry Mitchell sang in on that page. The Royal Kings, The Divots and Leroy Brown. There are tons of others. I am sure someone on that page could give you some information. The only other band member I know is Ed Hamilton. He played with him in The Divots. He still lives in Roanoke. I saw him this weekend at the funeral. There was another guy who played with The Royal Kings but I can't remember his name. I will check around for you if you like. If you have Facebook, check out that page. Tons of pictures and stuff. Again, thanks again for posting that song. It means a great deal to me. Thanks Dianna Yes, it was Jerry Mitchell that passed away. He passed away March 16, 2011 in Roanoke, Virginia at the age of 62. He found out he had cancer about 7 months ago. He was a very talented singer. I have a video from the beach at Outer Banks one year we went on vacation of him singing "Brick House" and "Easy" by The Commodores. I need to find it and put it on You Tube. It was awesome. I just wish now I'd had more things recorded. I truly appreciate you posted the other side of that song. It means a great deal to me. Thanks again, Dianna
