This really is a tough call to name your top five spine-tinglers but here goes. 1 IF YOU MUST GO - Eddie Parker 2 AFTER ALL - Sam Dees 3 YOU'VE BEEN CHEATIN' - The Impressions 4 NEVER LET A DAY GO BY - Tessie Hill 5 EPITOME OF SOUND - You Don't Love Me Would be hard pressed to list my all time favourites at any given time but ones above I never tire of hearing so they would by essential if only got five to pick, but as I said soooooooooooooo many to choose. Also got to agree with Chalky instrumentals aint soul. Unless you have a vocal on the track then it just don't do it for me. best fraser fdsoul6345789

"in Harlem, 2 Record Stores Go The Way Of Vinyl"
Fdsoul6345789 replied to a topic in All About the SOUL
Got to agree with both JOCK and DAVE over this story but is it not typical of the American attitude to all things and as soon as they think it has outlived it's usefullness then it is disgarded --- vinyl had it's day get rid of it, cds in vogue then on to mp3s an so on. I think from that point that we have a lot to thank them for as we have in the UK and elsewhere benifited from they're throwaway attitude on all things cultural. Or is it a case that not having a history of any merit they haven't the same feeling for anything of a cultural nature. I just think that they will live to regret it in the long term but we have been the benefactors in that we have had the opportunity to bring over to this country since the early 60ts and to this day a wealth of wonderful music that is so very dear to us but isn't appreciated by the people right on their doorstep. I fear they will live to regret it bigtime. fdsoul6345789 -

MERRY CHRISTMAS GUYS OH YES SAM IS THE MAN A TRUE LIGHT FROM THE DARKNESS OF ORDINARY MUSIC LONG MAY HE CONTINUE. MAGIC AND MADE MY CRIMBO WATCHING IT. fdsoul6345789 -
Hi there and welcome along to the mental world of Soul music collecting and going to venues. As mentioned by the wise men that posted before buy what you like and not just what is in vogue at the time. Records don't have to be expensive but some of the ones that you will want to own will be. Stick to ones within your budget and don't forget that your taste will change through the years. As for buying expensive vinyl then it all depends how much you want that particular 45. Even hard bitten collectors like myself still crave 45s that are out of our reach but we can still dream. Anyway it is great that you are getting into the music all the best and any help we on here can give you then don't hesitate to post here and we will try to solve any questions you have. best regards fdsoul6345789

Four Tops & The Temptations Concerts
Fdsoul6345789 replied to Tomangoes's topic in All About the SOUL
Well now where to start the show was great the new line-up members despite the disquiet voiced by some of the fellow soul-sourcers. In particular BRUCE WILLIAMSON (another good Scottish name)LOL He was fantastic what a voice and on the night could give Dennis Edwards a run for his money the Temps went throught their songbook with consumate ease. Just My Imagination, a highlight for me. The Tops then came on after a short interval. They were magic with Ronnie McNeir in their line-up how could they fail. They did as was mentioned led by Ronnie ASK THE LONELY and it was great. The only downfall I could come up with was then they announced that they were going to sing a number that they were recording and intending to bring it out and then went into their version of ALWAYS AND FOREVER (Heatwave) led by Theo Peoples decent enough but never a patch on JOHNNY WILDER AND CO IMHO. All in all a great night and totally well worth the journey of 100 mile round trip to Edinburgh to see them would do it all again in a flash, no problem. Thanks for the kind wishes for my birthday from the SOUTH YORKSHIRE CREW, Messrs Briscoe, Hampsey and Benson. fdsoul6345789 -
Four Tops & The Temptations Concerts
Fdsoul6345789 replied to Tomangoes's topic in All About the SOUL
Glad you enjoyed the show Sean I am going tonight MONDAY to the show at the Playhouse in Edinburgh and I am really looking forward to it cause it's me birfday. Will let you know how it all went. Can't have what we all would really like and have the original line ups of these TWO lengendary groups but the guys that replace them are stars in their own right. Went to see them (Temps) a few years ago and for some of the numbers just shut my eyes and listened and it was the sound I had spent my youth listening to. I am sure it will be just as good. best fraser fdsoul6345789 -

Had a last minute change of heart but was away from the pc and did not get on till after the deadline. Oh well there is always next time. As for MR HAMPSEY his cd arrived with me this morning but no track listing. Where is the list my best Yorkshire buddy? Thanks to Chris for the other TWO swaps just sorry I missed out. regards fdsoul6345789

Hi Guys, must agree with the comments of the guys that entered into the thing properly, bit of a waste of time when you make the effort to send out the alloted number of cds and only get a certain amount and nothing like the number you sent. Leaves a bitter taste to say the least. Some of the guilty as was said did not have the decency to apologise for not sending. Mr Hampsey did have a perfectly valid excuse and I am sorry for what happened to him. But for the rest it just aint in the spirit of the swap IMHO. Still the ones that I did recieve were all top notch. Will have to think if it is worth all the effort to do it all again if this is the end result. fdsoul6345789

Hi again as I said I think that someone has hacked into Martin's site and is trying to gain peoples info. I did not say that Martin was trying to scam anyone but I would be wary of this if anyone else gets this mail. sorry Martin no offence intended but I still think that someone else is trying to scam people's information by trying to get them to give over their account details. best regards fdsoul6345789

HI DON'T GO NEAR THIS AS IT IS A SCAM TRYING TO GET YOUR EMAIL AND DETAILS FROM YOU DELETE -DELETE-DELETE FDSOUL6345789
