  7. i bought mine in december 78 , i was an apprentice joiner 16 years old,i was on £19 a week and bought it with my xmas holiday wages,it was £59 so could just afford it with what i had saved up , i was amazed they had one to fit as i was (then)about 8stone and about a 34in chest and being 5ft 4 it covered me clarks polyveldts .im glad no pictures exist:thumbsup:

  9. i went to one in mansfield/notts ...cant exactly remember location think it was in a pub called the swan maybe. it was deffo 87 though, they were playin lanier & co dancin in the night . also hyde botanical club hosted a couple of niters , cottons in stockport is another,and i went to placemates to a northern/jazz funk niter circa 1980 searling deejayed there remember him introducin a certain record as topcat , so it was still covered then

  11. as for sue lynn , back in 1980 me and a mate used to go junk shoppin in stockport town centre every saturday,among the shops we always went in the co-op,they had a wire basket with deleted 45's@ 10p each, on this occasion another mate tagged along ,the following week he got to the co-op before us and found 3 or 4 sue lynns cheeky bugger !! . anyway im sure they were irish rca releases

  18. Dear Judi , Jo , Danny and Mark Since hearing this terrible news on Thursday , thoughts of Alan have been on my mind constantly . I have known Alan for nearly 30 years , his relentless passion & knowledge for soul music was inspiring to me and his many friends. As has been mentioned Alan ran some great soul venues in Stockport @ the Royal Oak,Southlands and Great Moor con club where he pioneered to feature all the top dj's from the UK, but to me ,we already had the best right here......ALAN "POLLY" POLLARD.....with all our love and deepest sympathy at this sad time Steve and Mandy Morgan
