  5. The point I was trying to get over was that all though it was over for some it was the beginning for people like me who had only just entered the Northern Soul Arena, so what is shite to yourself were the tracks we were enjoying as the next generation of what was rapidly becoming a dare I say a popular scene as youth clubs across the country had started playing a different kind of music where I witnessed boys dancing on their own on the dancefloor in a magical fashion to a music that was Alien from the Glam Rock of the era. I myself was drawn into a great new Music that is called Northern Soul today & tho my tastes have evolved & changed over the years I still look back at those years after 74 as magical, so your statement seemed to attempt to crush my feelings for the beginning of my journey. On a brighter note it does feel great to be to YOUNG for something I haven't had that feeling for a few years & it's made me feel alot better so thank you Joey & that's not sarcasm it's euphoria. Kirsty
  6. Apologies for being born at the wrong time & yes I did have a fantastic four years after 74 & Yes I think I even enjoyed myself until the mid 80's & then I further enjoyed myself being born again in the late 90's but then we can't be all gifted with the talents for spotting or knowing everybodies musical tastes in every given era because as many have said on here one person's shite is another's well you get what I mean. All I can say is that it Northern Soul as it was called did become mainstream & yes lots of people across the country enjoyed it, so may I apologise personally for all those who ruined a perfect underground scene that was given to the chosen few prior to some of us being born. Yours in admiration Kirsty

  13. If the latest evil-bay sales are anything to go by & if you mean 60's soul then the answer has to be a big fat yes & it's collectors & DJ's all over the world who prize the possession of what you are calling Retro Soul & these die hards talk with their wallets!!! Regards Kirsty

  15. This is my quandary Russ I really Like Sir Joe - Every Day but I can't get my head around the Triads - If You're Looking For Love, so for me I would be up down, up down with my dance floor reaction, I suppose that wouldn't be a bad thing as I could swig my Lambrini & have time to adjust my handbag between tracks & as you said the Triads does get a good response it just doesn't fill my soul is that hard to understand? Kirsty
  16. I agree chalky & I think Ed was just trying to give the same point of view some do feel that we are moving away from our roots, I do like some upfront tracks but it's not for me maybe one day but hey, I still enjoy a full english or my Sunday dinner so maybe I am stuck in my ways & not down with the kids P.s. A Joke not sarcasm Kirsty
  17. Northern Soul Well to me it’s a certain beat, it can be danceable or not (too fast to slow) it’s not completely black dance music as I like a fair number of blue eyed soul tracks. Some tracks can Border on Doo-wop, Funk, Rock n Roll, progressive, Disco, mod, garage or chart but the beat or backing singers can make it a no no as it has to fit within a certain beat without being over influenced by the a defined genre ie soulful in it’s presentation is the name of the game & it seems that this trait has been picked up by some quality DJ’s that we have or have had on the scene. There is not one that fits all or era that has not influenced the ever changing world of Northern Soul, as different DJ’s present different sets, Modern, Cross Over, Oldies, Rare, Underplayed, across the board. New tracks have surfaced & have been played out on the scene some bomb but some get a great response, People (Crate Diggers) & DJ’s are still looking for Quality tracks that have not been played out before & some have great success with new discoveries & some flop along the way. There are new labels finding Quality unreleased tracks & releasing new artists for our ears. We all have our own favourites some do like the same tracks over & over again, some hate that & want to move forward but we all have one thing in common the love of a certain kind of music that we ourselves (Personally) call NORTHERN SOUL Kirsty

  19. Totally agree, but why do people continue to slag off records that many feet have danced too, May not be the best record but it sure has a place in the history of Northen Soul love it or loathe it. but having said that a £300 price tag is pushing it. Kirsty
