  7. I love the way the guys from Bilbao play out. Totally across the board, northern, disco, southern, mid-tempo, rare, chaepies. A real breath of fresh air, don't change it guys
  8. Quality stuff, looking forward to the rest
  9. Great stuff Mark, I went to those do's very good times. I miss Big Jim, haven't seen him in years, had the worst taste in Christmas cracker jokes, but a real character.
  10. I saw him recently and thought he was great, definitely going to see him next month with James hunter. He is the real deal and a lovely guy as well.
  11. Hi Eddie, I'm sure I remember Ion playing it around the time you knew him. Very fast
  12. i've seen yor picture, i ain't gonna argue mick
  13. totally agree Sean, saw him in holland and a few of us from the Uk waved to him (no more than a yard or two away, he was oblivious or propbably ignoring those boring bastards ) Virtually had to be led on stage and off, would bring a tear to a glass eye
  14. The perenial question, I think good taste and I guess there has to be a certain amount of exclusivity to keep everyone happy. One of my favourite djs over the years was Ian Clark. He had a lot of rarities but also an uncanny knack of dropping in motown,70s,classics. The amount of times I've been to a club and someone has said to me 'He's got a brilliant collection'. My answer is still the same 'Why ain't he f%*king playing them then?' Also sometimes you can play something leftfield like 'Tony Middleton 'Spanish maiden' got played at recently and everyone loved it. The second question 'What do i expect from a dj? I guess something of their own taste. A great example Tats taylor came down to play Monumental a few months back and played Four Tops 'Do what you gotta do' as an ender, it was brilliant!
  15. I think we were lucky in london because we had the likes of Trevor ' 2 step' Myzacks and Charlie'Jackie Wilson' Mitchell. Some of the stuff that were put onto Mary Mundy,Next Movement,Rhyze, fantastic tunes.
  16. Or mine in a swap for a jap deep soul cd
  17. brilliant cd, i don't even like the funk track that i believe makes it in demand, but what a great lp
  18. Hi Dave, There is a fantastic French Ep covers book which came out in the 80s I think, but I don't have it to hand. I'm sure one of these knowlegable guys can help.
  19. Hi Marc, In a world where mediocrity is celebrated and hype this guy was a true great. I love all of his music from 60s onwards. One that really stands out though is a Hi recording called ' Without you'. Very few have managed to truly put across the emptiness that you feel when you lose someone like that. A rare talent indeed
  20. You never let me down mate, as always top choices. Picked up the Jimmy holiday for a fiver recently. The album is great as well. You know how much i love James Carr, lucky to see him live twice. Arthur Alexander played at Randy Couzens funeral, took what was already an amazing record to another level. Hope to see you soon mate Mark
