  2. Great record and one that i bought in the sixties from Violet Mays in Sheffield and kept, also bought Omar Khyam Rubiats and Justine on Buffalo at same time in the sale.Sold loads in the seventies when i was skint but always kept the ones i couldn't bear to get rid of.Used to love "Save it" in sixties but "This love" does it for me everytime nowadays. In fact melvin has done some fantastic records over the years, and is a lovely man to talk to (thanks to Rob Wigley Prestatyn). Some of his 100% proof tracks are brilliant.

  8. Extract from the instructions The Vinyl Flat Record Flattener furnishes the required amount of pressure (on precise areas of the record using vinyl-safe materials). The other elements - heat and time - are furnished by you. For a heat source, we suggest our optional Groovy Pouch. You may also use a standard kitchen oven or a small convection toaster oven. With that in mind, the two most important rules to follow when repairing vinyl records with an oven as the heat source are "LOW"Â and "SLOW"Â. Love the idea of putting a 7" in the toaster!!!! NOT i

  11. Just had this for the first time ever, $40 record added vat £5.06p handling charge £8 from post office( was still well worth it though) but a shock all the same. Here's how it reads:- Customs charges are applied to imports into the EU with a value over £15 for vat (imports from the channel islands the value is £0}.All items valued over £135 will attract import duty.Imported gifts valued over £40 sent between private individuals will also attract vat' For more info see UK Border Agency website search "Notice 143" https://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/customs-travel/customs/postal/
  12. This is from the previous thread Read this in Manship's auction listing re: ZZ: "Authentic Original! Quick check in case you own the inferior sound quality counterfeit. THE ORIGINAL dead wax has a deeply scratched matrix reading MRP/FR-JB - 51679 -"GRFTG" - Re2 . COUNTERFEIT Lightly scratched matrix FRJB - 51679 - A .then half a turn TLP. Surely the original with strong sound quality is the only 45 worth owning." I bought a few copies of this 45 from the artist about 16 months back; he had some of each press. When I inquired about the difference I was told the MRP/FR-JB - 51679 is the technical first press, but it was delivered flawed, poor quality vinyl, most copies skipped, so he then reordered with a different plant and the FRJB - 51679 was born. If there is an inferior press, the first would be it. To my ear they both play "loud" the FRJB - 51679 is just on better quality vinyl. I don't know where or what base the rumor of a "COUNTERFEIT" started but I believe the artist has no reason to poorly remember or lie about these things. Anyway, maybe someone can enlighten me; not trying to talk down John's auction, I just don't believe the FRJB - 51679 is a boot, although there may be a boot of the 45 out there too. 13. But if we are talking about the record that has grossed the most money in sale & resale one to consider has got to be I Wanna Give You Tomorrow - Benny Troy loads of the buggers around & been selling way over price for many a year £100.00 plus at times for a £10.00 max record must bring this to being close to the one Had this conversation with Dave Raistrick a few years ago and he said he had boxes of it for sale at Wigan so must be a contender, drives me nuts when i hear it now, very annoying,
