Classic case of this is Deadric Malone on labels such as Duke ,was actually Don Robey who ( allegedly ) used other peoples songs and put pseudonym on so he would get the rights.A reason why many artists were pissed off with the system at the time because all monies went to owner. I suppose he got them on 45 and many would have been glad just to be recorded but he certainly knew what made the money over the years.

If you'd have asked me back in the day i probably would have said a uk copy of Chubby Checker Dicotheque as this was one record everybody wanted to own and play,but that is showing my age and well before any imports started coming over in any numbers. Closest i got was cu ma la be stay/everything's wrong on Uk cameo parkway found in 2nd hand shop in Hull along with stateside copy of Jimmy Radcliffe everything's wrong still brings a smile to my face when i hear it great sound

  4. Bought some great records from Gary On the door . from memory i got green issue of under the streetlamp for £3 only after i'd met him did i start getting his lists Black Knight Records and bought some Brill stuff Straight Jacket, Caviar, Etc. Great Venues

On Doncaster market in the sixties there was a record stall that sold ex juke box singles (somewhere where the outdoor toilets are now) and he must have bought a job lot of old blue stax uk issues 1 shilling and sixpence each or four for 5 bob i bought these at the same time: Eddie Floyd Big Bird Booker T Chinese Checkers Carla Thomas Pick up the pieces Linda Lyndell Bring your love back to me bought them all blind because i knew of Booker T and Eddie Floyd turned out not to be too bad a choice,still have them all

  12. Hi Dave I'm sure you will love it saw her in Nottingham Mid 2k and she was superb, no effort to give a spine tingling performance.She was one of my must see artists. Wouldn't it be great if you could pick your own tracks for her to perform.
  13. Yep great to see so many friendly faces and the music was out of this world great to hear Tyrone Davis Turn back the hands of time and Love Peace and Happiness, there were so many great tunes the ladies were brilliant !!!

  25. Just shows how the mind plays tricks I thought the saying "Soul as deep as you like and then some" was written on D.G.'s Deep soul label but had a look and its not was it on the sleeve ?
