  3. About ten years ago before the days of the internet,there was a flyer going around that was a mock up of a flyer for a soul night at goodison park I dont know who made the thing but my suspicions lie at the hands of liverpool fans aluding to evertons reputation as a racist club

Ive had the similar experience as you,my 19 year old daughter has been brought up on soul music and has no interested in soul music at all,and over the years ive took loads of non soulies to soul venues which they then usually use as amunition to make fun of me at a later date as they prop up the bar in my local. men dancing together, o.a.p disco, throwing talc on the floor ect ect

Im 40 Ive been into northern since i was in secondry school and happend to miss the hay day I think he scene has about ten years left in it then it will turn into a copy of the teddy boy scene with the last few remaing soulies getting together in some hotels function room No mass influx of new blood is coming through however hard we try Ive got a 19n year old daughter and aneleven year old son and both have been brought up with a diet of soul music from the day they were born The 19 year old is into dance music The 11 year old is into his nintendo wii The thought of kids getting ino their parents music isnt really going to work otherwise if it worked like that I would be an elvis fan like me ma

Mods were a sub culture,due to the dress code,music and all round mod things Northern soul doesnt have all the trappings of a sub culture like the mod movement So i suppose its just people into a certan type of music that get together A bit like my other passion people who get together to follow everton

I dont think that any mas influx of new blood has appeared on the scene Just old soulies who had lost interest and were sparked into'' returning'' when they discoverd that the soul scene was still alive and kicking when they discoverd the internet Which probably explains the demise in numbers recently at soul venues A lot of folk who came back into the fold after getting bored of it have got bored of it again We seem to of survived through the 80ts with low numbers and im sure we will carry on untill the last one of us drops But their wont be another revival to moan about
  15. I vaguely remember seeing geno and his band at the liverpool empire in the mid 80ts In some play where motown was the theme I remember him being a great performer but the play couldnt have been up to much because i cant remember anything about it

  19. Ive noticed that this fridays soul night in Rhyl is a motown night I think ill change my venue plans and give it a visit
  20. A motown room would be worth a try,i know my mrs would deffo be in there and i wouldnt be adverse to frequenting the room
  21. The live footage of Sam and Dave was fantastic plus the interviews throughout the documentary with steve cropper where very enlightening The biggest surprise to me was that Soul Man was written as a reference to grafiti in the Detroit race riots I think ill watch it again in October

  23. Your right about that estate,one of the worst places to wander around in dat der london only second to that big estate near spurs ground
  24. On the subject of soul documentaries There was a documentary about Stax last night on the community channel(sky) This channel repeats a lot of its stuff ,so its worth keeping an eye out for when its on again.
