  1. are there any old Stafford tunes that rarely get played that you are particularly looking forward to hearing at the re-union later this month? The Relatives on Almont "Im Just Looking For Love" I love it! cheers Paul
  2. Yep, I reckon your right. Im sure I heard this played out in past few weeks. I've definately heard it recently cheers Paul
  3. I reckon you should give it a play, i've rated this track for years, I used to put it on tapes for swapping with other collectors. I've never heard it played out anywhere. cheers Paul
  4. Mace's top ebay tips...available soon in a new bestselling paperback... Hi Mace I was going to ask you to 'proof read' my new book!!!!...lol...it's almost finished! cheers Paul
  5. Downstairs Records used to be good for browsing, but now gone, in my first two visits of 2005 to the "Apple" I tried to find it again, but it's gone. Are you sure its gone? This was a great place for finding goodies years ago! They still have a web page so I would be suprised if the actual shop premises has closed down, where would they put all that stock? regards Paul
  6. 'Live It Up' is a great 45, has had a few plays out and about. All her early (solo) albums are worth picking up, they all contain some superb original and cover versions. They are very collectable but can be picked up reasonably cheap, also look out for her EPs. regards Paul
  7. Hi Tony Hope you are ok mate? Re the ritz...After the last one there... its a deffo no...no for me and my mates anyway!! IMO It was dire...the music was extremely bland and so predictable, the beer was flat...the temperature was freezin cold...I had heard the venue had been renovated? so I expecting a new look modernised space...lol.... I swore when I left the building it would be my last ever visit and it was. As a paying customer / punter I want more for my hard earned dosh! I had better stop this rant before I lose my rag See you at the The Vic in Heywood on Sunday 27th Feb for some right good music (theres another free plug for you!) cheers Paul
  8. Bought mine mint for £12, what a bargain! great B side too regards Paul
  9. $200 for an average toe tapper, not my cup o tea, better than some being played on the scene though!
  10. Got a great Mexican 45 of Brenda Holloway 'A Favor For Girl' on Blue Tamla Motown... regards Paul
  11. 'Mend The Broken Pieces' is the first issued title on issues & demos 1010, later changed to 'Torn' 1075. I see copies of both occasionally, sold a near mint first issue for £75 about a month ago. regards Paul
  12. For me, this is the best and most soulful version, no exceptions!!! I always play it out and champion it when I can, another great cheap and overlooked side crying out for some attention. Still causes a spillage...lol cheers Paul
  13. Duncan I have a few for sale, brand new Heres one I am selling on Ebay at the moment, great boxes, strong and light. regards Paul https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...me=STRK:MESE:IT

  16. Its the same Timmy as Timmy & The Persionettes on Olympia 'There Comes a Time', a great overlooked side in my opinion. Great label design too, found a few copies in the states in 90 /91.
  17. Gerri Diamond 'Only You (Can Feel The Loss)' cheers Paul
  18. For a long time I thought it was the Apollas on an unnisued Loma track as the whole production reminds me of a lot of the Loma stuff. But it could well be the Tiaras...time will tell...or will it? I want one! regards Paul
  19. For me it has the be The Tiaras c/up 'Suprise' as played by Andy Dyson and Butch. Just a bloody great sound which has kept me awake on many a night wondering about its true identity! Its fantastic that tunes of this calibre are being discovered and played after all these years and keeps me interested in the collecting side of the scene. cheers Paul
