As i'm writing this i currently have 166 45s on ebay with only 21 having bids on them, this is not unusual as many people bid at the last minute. The thing that scares me is as i look down the columns all i see is zero's & one's in the watch columns. Now i'm not arrogant enough to think i have the best 45s on ebay but i do have a good cross section of 60s & 70s soul, funk, modern & northern and i would normally sell about half to two thirds of daily sales on the basis that the vast majority are £7.99 start and represent reasonable value. Last night i had 33 45s on and 4 sold! and they only made the start price! It was a similar thing the previous 2 or 3 nights with only a couple of sales. Are there any other ebay sellers on here experiencing the same thing? The strange thing is that i sold a load of heavy rock, prog and metal LPs recently and the interest was huge, everything sold and all items had tons of interest and loads of watchers! It's as if someone has switched off the "Soul" light. I take a lot of time hand picking my items and making sure they all have soundclips but i feel i'm doing this to simply lose money. Is it simply the case that there are so many soul 45s out there and not enough buyers or do all the collectors have what they want? I have been a buyer/seller/collector of soul music for over 30 years and have noticed a slow decline over the last few years but have never known it this bad! Any thoughts? Vince

I've got 100s of rock albums but i'm trying to put them out bit by bit as it may put potential soulies off if my pages if they're full of rock! i may be putting some lots on tonight, keep an eye -

I couldn't agree more! I will say this though, money can't buy advertising like this, the Fats 45 has now had 424 page views which will mean that potential buyers will be looking at my other stuff I think that i may make a typo on purpose next time -

Bugger, ive been found out! Of course it was a typo (i've now put it right) but on reflection i might do that again as i've never had so many hits, 243 page views as i'm writing!!! Crikey i didn't get that many page views when i auction Purple Mundi a couple of years back! Anyway i'm glad it's given everyone a giggle and at least i have a bid now, albeit £4.99 -
Uk Ebay Listing Fees Have Trebled! Now 30P Per Listing
vince ayres replied to vince ayres's topic in All About the SOUL
Cheers Glynn, that's good advice and exactly what the ebay rep advised me last night when i eventually got through. For what it's worth my conversation with him was the first he knew of the increase! -
Uk Ebay Listing Fees Have Trebled! Now 30P Per Listing

Cheers Pete, maybe i'll give it a go but is it auction or fixed price? -
This may be because i'm a busines seller or whatever but for the life of me i can't understand why they have increased listing an album or 45 to an unbelieveable .30p! This may not sound like a lot but on good weeks i have been known to list over 100 45s which is £30 in listing fees alone, not forgetting that i will then be charged for end of listing fees aswell! I have been spending most of the day trying to get through to ebay but have given up as the wait is too long (they must have been overwhelmed with irate sellers). Yes you can still list for .10p but the start price has to be under £1.00. Are there any other ebay sellers having this problem? It reminds me of the time when ebay dictated that you would have to send your records for free in the UK, there was such a backlash that they had to reverse the policy. The most astounding thing is that you can list for free on ebay.com! I think ebay have lost the plot this time, let's face it, if all the sellers leave ebay (and i'm going to be one of them) it therefore follows that there will be no buyers. Any thoughts?
